Depressing. Shit like this makes me glad I am not a bully and makes me angry towards those who do it. She was very pretty, so I can see why she'd be bullied. Rest in peace. :(

Change that to bullying law then. Thing is we shouldn't have to be limited on what we can and cannot say to someone just because the wrong thing could set someone off.

Btw I think the parents should've reported those doing the bullying long ago, gotten their kid off those sites, and possibly gotten her help. They are also to blame in my opinion. But watch the media paint the parents as doing all they could have/the victims and calling for laws against bullying which border on anti-free speech instead of telling the parents to man the fuck up and accept some responsibility & to take action with their kids.

We have free resources, you can consult a psychologist and the government will refund 80% of the costs. The problem really has nothing to do with policies and help available. Its about people.

She probably knew she had all the resources but was probably intelligent enough to realize that she was surrounded by retarded helpless people and found the only way out... So sad. I checked a few news sources and it seems they attempted to take action with no reaction from the school. They even promised to take her out of there by 16 and offer alternative sources for studies.

Again it falls upon the parents. Didn't they see their kid becoming this way? I'm guessing they noticed something(if they didn't they had no right to be parents then imo) and just let her handle it herself for some reason which is shite parenting.

Kid won't use resources? Kid's a MINOR......parents make kid use resources or deal with the issue themselves if kid can't or won't.What action? Serious actions or just "we'll call the school a few times and complain about it" and "asking kid once a week to go to therapy" kind of actions?

As if this is what they had hoped for. I hope these two can be trialed for plotting to lead her to this decision. People don't seem to realize how serious the problem really is. We tend to think of bullying as just making fun of someone but there are many levels of abuse and there should be a level where police needs to interfere.

It is a great preparation for what the job market will be like.

Sure, the job market is a bit more polite, less silly with more sugarcoating, but this is what it comes down to in the end.

Also, it doesn't help that a significant portion of the teachers are idiots.

I've seen plenty of teachers do nothing about a student getting bullied and on some occasion, even reinforce the bullying.

A teacher once told a friend of mine that the grade he got (zero) was what he was worth. The same teacher did nothing about another student pulling down his pants in the middle of the classroom and even thought it was funny.

Yep, teachers are people too and we need to keep a tab on them, just like any other state employee really.

Personally, I'm pro having the occasional "hidden" quality control inspector (maybe someone in their early twenties that still look like they could be teens) go in the classroom as a student and assess the teacher.

I dislike what happened but isn't that a slippery slope? What if the gov't decide to make everything you say to someone carry legal weight? Even casual asides or stuff said in the heat of the moment and on only one occasion? What if a stranger walks past and says something nasty and you say "You should die/kill yourself" and they do and the law decides to arrest you? What then?I agree the teachers also sometimes let bullying slide, or when you report it they don't believe you. IMO anyone reporting being bullied should have to go to mandatory counseling, as well as those reported for bullying.

I hope society is decent enough to punish them. They should be social parias by now. This is not a matter for the courts, but everybody who was even remotly involved should take a good look at their actions and hopefully prevent somethink like this in the future.

Funny, Georgia is doing that (the nation, not the state). And the teachers aren't really happy about this. Oh, and bullying hasn't stop. But critical remarks about the goverment dropped by astonishing 100 %.

It is possible to file a complain to police if someone harass or stalks you. Not like the person will get jail time but at least that if the person speaks to you or gets anywhere near they get a criminal record and deal with the consequences. When bullies try to cross boarders after such an event and are bing asked if they have a criminal record they will have to tell customs that they do have a criminal record but not because they are dangerous, just because they are very stupid and an annoyance to society. I don't really believe that jail can fix anyone... So I am not saying we should be sent in jail for being a prick at school but there are ways to fight back.
