I brew my own mead. Been doing so for a while. With local grown organic honey, no added chemicals. Just plain water, honey and yeast.
I love re-enactment, the real deal. Not SCA crap. Here in Europe, when we re-enact, we go to real castles, wear real armors (yes, that's easily 150 pounds of steel you're carrying around, deal with it or stay behind and prepare the food like the girl you are), and we use real swords (though they're blunted, since we're not allowed to kill anyone in duels). I'm thinking of quitting 13th century re-enactment though (what I do now) and moving on to Viking re-enactment.
And I'm way into black metal, folk, folk metal, viking metal, etc. Anything that takes me away from the modern world and into the eras of past where men were still men and women still behaved like women.
Lastly, I'm into Gor. But I shouldn't go in detail on that in a forum that's open to everyone.

TheCheese33: I figured so from your avatar. Not a big fan of it myself, but I did enjoy playing some Persona 4 and watching Afro Samurai.

Actually it's artwork from the freeware game Cave Story. Good game that's like Metroid. Eager for the Wiiware release.

Yeah, I played a bit of Cave Story, but didn't recognize that as being in the game. Is it fanart? I haven't played it in forever, but I remember it being 8-bit.

thevault314: What kind of game are you developing?

Kalas: A vertical scrolling shooter, pretty basic idea, but I've got some ideas that should make it pretty interesting.

If you need any help with playtesting or anything, I'm game.

I should be fine, but thanks for the offer!

You could give my (rather amateurish) attempt at a vertical shooter a go?
Would appreciate any feedback really, primarily whether the damn thing runs at an acceptable speed and such...

First Impressions (Played once; wave 30ish):
Love the music and sound effects. They're simple, but they fit the game and are very catchy.
The speed seemed fine, fast paced and intense! It might have been slightly faster than you intended (doubtful) but I liked the speed. (except for the spiral waves, they swept in and hit me before I even realized what was going on)
The powerups are good and worked fine; I'd suggest adding a few more, though.
That's all that really stuck out to me, I encountered no bugs (none that I noticed, at least).
All in all, I like it, it flows well and has a very old-school charm about it. +1 :-)

Wow, positive feedback - thanks mate, I *really* appreciate it :-)
As for the power-ups, I thought an autofire might come in handy - but don't really have any ideas apart from that..

Agreed, tapping the fire key can get tiring, but that's going to be difficult to balance. I'm confident you can do it, though.
My biggest hobby is programming.
I like to sit down and write some code.
I'm into basketball, running, reading, school, keeping it real, gangbanging, and fornicating with my girlfriend.
Mountain biking with friends during the weekends. Unfortunately the job doesn't allow me to do more than that.

Not sure but it's artwork and not in game graphics. The characters were more 8 bit-ish but more 16 bit when it came to the environments.
