...so i was checking for Puzzle Quest (the first one) and eventually stumbled upon Gamestop, a site aparently big in USA (i'm EU, so i wouldn't know for sure), that retails but aparently sells as download as well (at least some PC titles).
I was wondering if anyone here has some experience with their system, good, bad, DRM, what ever. And if In your opinion, is it an acceptable site for download some more 'recent' games.
(GOG.com FTW though! I'd wish GOG would fullfil all my game catalog needs, and i'd happily never look at other online seller again :) )

Everyone and their mother is making digital distribution pc stuff, which is why you shouldn't believe sales that only gives b&m sales of console and pc games...
Err, on topic, with that said above, I dunno f I would yet. I'd personally stay with the distributors that will be in business in 3-5 years...

I dunno how their download system works, but Gamestop the chain is basically the Wal-Mart of video game sales.
I'd stay away from them. Far, far away.

Can't help you much with your question about Gamestop i'm affraid. Never used them.
Other than GOG, i usually stick with D2D for more recent titles.
And naturally, there's always Impulse and...*cough* stEAm.

That's console games you mean. Steam is beginning to become the walmart of pc game sales, esp. with some of the awful games they are putting up now...

Unless they're using a completely different model to the norm, the games you buy would be tied to that account. Meaning you'd only have them as long as the company lasts.
Therefore, I agree with Zellio. Especially when you factor in the company's reputation.

...ok, thanks for the replies :] It seems that online distribution still has a long way to mature... exception GOG, everybody else seems to try and just 'license' you a game. Hope impulse really goes the .exe way as it seems by their recent developments, but until then...oh well...

GOG.com is definatly the best way to go. Seriously, even if the whole site goes down, and it never comes back, hackers hack it into oblivion it gets sued to all glory,

Here is information on how their download service is handled.
Of particular note: "Can I install the product on more than one PC? This varies by publisher and product. Some products can be installed on only one PC while others can be installed on up to three PCs. Your email receipt will display the number of licenses available."

I hope Gametap goes back to being what they were before they were bought out by those weird French people. Now they screw around with new games instead going retro and whatnot. And it doesn't work on Firefox for me.
I hope this doesn't end up being another bash Gametap thread. Moving back on topic...

Have GameStop finally dumped their North America only restrictions on the digital downloads? Last I checked, pretty much nothing was available via DD outside of North America.

I don't think they're that bad. They don't pay their employees slave wages, and buying from them is an overall less dirty experience.

They've also broken release dates on numerous occasions (which led to a lot of the initial issues with Demigod, for example), and have long had a policy of allowing staff to 'borrow' games pre-release, then bring them back to the store, re-wrap them and sell them as new.

I did buy Thief Gold from the Gamestop service. It used the EA downloader, had a special web launcher which didn't work with any fan patches, and required web verification.
I said to heck with that, went to Pirate Bay, downloaded iso's of Thief Gold, burned 'em, and wrote "Bought from EA" on them. End of Story.

They also break the seal on PC games at least and store the discs behind the counter...that's messed up.
