Second sight most recently, and tho game dev story came recommended, it lives up to the hype!
The ground control series, I didnt think i would like it as its fixed units RTS, I can get along with fixed units TBS like shattered union

i didnt like WIC But gave this a shot anyway and i was quite amazed, Everything seems balanced like usually in RTS games people get the best things first and spam but in this its fixed sets so use them tactically and you will have the upper hand
Tactics Ogre : Let Us Cling Together, I've hit over 60 hours of playtime the first week i bought it, didnt know it was so addicting with multiple routes and builds for a tactics game

torqual76: Hello,

I play Dungeon Lords now . When I bought my first copy of Dungeon Lords years ago it was an unplayable mess. Now with patch 1.4 its quite fun. It's a complex 3D Hack'n'slay with content. Your character progression is quite unique for Rpgs. For every level you get xp based on your class and intelligence value. An intelligent elven mage would get more xp then an stupid demigod (monster-humanbreed). But every xp you get from killing things or doing quests you can spent between levelups in everything you want. So a skilled melee fighter with magic skills is possible or rogue with healing skills. Oh and it has a multiplayer mode. Its quite addictive for such an old game.

Pros:

- Unique Character developement.

- There are 12 characteristics like strength, intelligence, speed, dexterity, valour etc.

- 7 races Humans, Dwarfes, Elves, Urgoth(big clumsy semi-human beasts), Wylans (doglike semi-humans beasts), Zauren lizardlike semi-humans, Thralls little gnomelike creatures.

- 4 Beginner classes Fighter, Cleric, Mage, Rogue

- 15 specialized classes like ninja, samurai, nekromancer, celestial cleric, druid, warlord etc.

-Many spells! 4 Spellschool. Arcane, Celestial, Hell(Alchemy-like) and Runemagic. All spellschools are different from each other. So Hellmagic needs ingredients. More powerfull spells need more expensive ingredients. Runemagic uses Runestones you have to find or buy. Arkane magic is casted buy prefabricated scrolls and Celestial is the power of the gods. Day and night circle has consequences for this magic school.

- Active blocking system. Ranged combat. Spells. Not so boring combat. There are some tough enemies that need special tactis to fight them. Your weapons range actually matters. A long poleaxe hurts more enemies in a swirlattack then a short dagger.

- There is a lockpicking minigame for the many chests to be found in the game world.

-7 big dungeons as playfield.

- A huge world to explore.

-Nicley drawn creatures.

-Difficult in the beginning, sometimes a little bit overwhelming. Later on the monster spawns get really huge. You feel like Teh real heroe. My last fight was against 20 vampire bats. At this stage the game becomes a little chaotic.

Cons:

-No big world map only a small minimap. So orientation is very oldschool. You get a paper map with the game and you have orientate yourself according to landmarks like in rl.

- Old grafics.

- Empty towns and buildings. They forgot to place inventory inside most buildings. The game feels a little bit unfinished here and there.

- Some places seem impossible. Save early, save often.

-I do not know where you could buy it.

My conlusion so far is ...

In direct comparison to oblivion and fallout 3 Dungeon Lord performs surprisingly good. Its the complexest actionrpg i know so fare.

Have a nice game

did they ever fix the issue with the Urgoth not being able to climb to the top of some ladders, (couldnt get off at the top due to the area around them that classed as a solid object)

Is Second Sight good? It's been on my wishlist for PC on Steam for quite some time :D
Alpha Protocol totally surpassed my expectations, it's a great game with amazing story. It didn't deserve all the bashing it got. Check it out.

Shira Oka - Second Chances. Didn't really expect much from this game, but was really amazed how good it is. Been playing it pretty intensively. Definately recommended.
Two. Dark Sector and Kane & Lynch 2.

I heard lots of terrible things about Dark Sector, mostly amounting to it being really lame in gameplay. I think the gameplay is amazing for a cover shooter, and probably the most unique of any AAA action game I've played since 07. (Granted, IIRC it's older than that.) Graphically it is, IMO, better than Crysis due to stylized visuals and clever effects. Probably among my favorite games of all time, due to clever juxtaposition of standard horror elements with human enemies that often looked as alien as the shambling terrors you ran into, and due to populating a dark-but-vibrant world with slick design choices that justified the minimal HUD and saved the gameplay from tumbling into the "cover shooter with a gimmick" abyss.

Kane & Lynch 2 I got specifically because it was said to be terrible. I was on a buying spree of horrible games on the cheap at the time for research purposes (Why did this game suck, and how can I learn from its mistakes?) and was most surprised to find that it was actually a very nice experience. I felt a punk rock sort of reaction about it, in that it seemed to be a deliberate "up yours" to gamer expectations in its minimalism.

Also, its gratuitous censoring of scenes that otherwise would have been shown in all their gory (or not so gory) detail in other games made me actually sympathize far less with the characters and their awful motivations than I would have in a standard game, but in a good way. The characterization was well done, and I understood them and their motivations, but that made them no less reprehensible and their actions no less despicable. The game walked a thin line of Anvilicious and bog-standard, and managed to avoid both.

i cant speak for the PC version as i did it years back on the Xbox, but i loved it, great story well told, and loved the gameplay too, provided you mainly use the psychic powers, a friend of mine played it and treated it like a shooter and i watched him play it and it took a lot of the fun out of it that way

Interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!
Crysis. One of the best FPS games I have played.

Yeap. I think they did a great remake of it.
Always have been a great fan of the Tactics ogre series.
Though many will hate me (but not TwoKnee man up there):

Alpha Protocol.

I got it at Goodwill for a few dollars and I just loved that game to death. Plenty of choices, just the right length of story, and just plain ol' fun. I think there's a problem with misplaced expectations with that game. Maybe, anyway. Some people just hate it.

Drakensang

I've really enjoyed it so far. I got it about a year ago while I was playing Dragon Age and I wanted something similar but more light. It did the trick.

Temple of Elemental Evil

Got it many years ago b/c it was super-cheap, but didn't play it for a while. I've now been playing it off-and-on for 3 years. It's still a great game. Didn't deserve all the shame it got. And I've stil not used the Co8 patch. I only want to get it once I finish vanilla ToEE.

The telekinesis was a surprise. It reminded of Infamous and Deadspace mixed with the X files.
I was totally surprised by Earthbound. I thought it would have been one of those games that's acclaim comes from people wearing rose tinted glasses. However, it holds up really well. It's a really captivating and immersive world with lovable characters. The combat definitely has aged slightly, it seems a bit too basic now, but it's still fun.
