^^^ I read your instructions to summon DEREK SMART and the first game that came to mind was Space Rangers 2. Wonderful game... ^^^
Insanely complex game? Mixes genres? UI that causes SAN loss? Hilarious bugs?*
Popular and successful**?
Dwarf Fortress. Toady One is Derek Smart done right, without the aggressive ego. Merely being insanely complicated and having an impenetrable interface is not an insurmountable barrier to success. Being a dick on top of that certainly makes the barrier harder to surmount...

TheCheese33: Plus, that would mean these rare games I paid top dollar for are now available to everyone.

Now that's pretty damn selfish! The point of sites like these is so that people *won't* have to pay top dollar for classic games.
I bought Zak McKracken for the FM Towns for over 400 bucks but I would love to see it available here for 5 :)
But of course that will never happen as it's not a PC game :(

Yes it is. ScummVM to the rescue ;-) Both the Amiga and the C64 versions are supported too, as far as I know. So in theory, GOG could make a "Zak on 4 different platforms" pack. Still, it's Lucasarts, so fat chance of that happening.

How would you like it if you paid lots of money for games that got put on some collection site for $5.99 a short while later? You probably wouldn't.

A "Zak Pak"? Genius!

I'm sorry but did you read my post?

In other words, I would love if Zak FM Towns (that I paid 400+ USD for) would be made available here for 5 bucks. It's a great game and more people should be given the chance to play it.
Also, I just bought the oldest Tex Murphy games.. paid quite a bit for those as well (well not *that* much but certainly more than 5 dollars each), and I've been voting for both of those to be sold here. If I think a game is great, I want it to be played by many people. Doesn't matter to me if I already bought it at a higher price.

How on earth did you manage to pay $400 for any single game? Even if it included the FMTowns it's way too much. Thats a sign of having far too much money for your own good.
On a completely unrelated topic, the Aliasalpha Fund For Buying GOG Releases is now accepting donations...

Hehe, I don't have much money at all. It was a one time thing (well, that and the other 5 FM Towns Lucasarts games). I live alone, though.. so I don't have a family to provide for or anything like that.
Some people buy a new TV.. I buy some old games I'd been wanting for years and years :)
And this is what the game usually goes for. But I've seen it go for quite a bit more, too.

So what you're saying is you wouldn't mind if you paid an insane amount of money on an ultra-rare game, and that same game became available for $5.99 off a website the next day? It wouldn't kill you to know that, had you waited a bit longer, you could've bought the game dirt cheap and had a good deal of money to spend on other things?
Well, of course I would kick myself for buying the game at that price, but I would still think it would be an awesome addition to this site.
So I wouldn't wish for the game not to be on the site, I'd wish I hadn't bough it at that price.
However, it's cooler to have the original box and disc and all that ;)

Bikini Karate Babes
Black and white and ever more so for it's awful sequel.
I remember when black and white first came out, I was enchanted by it for the first couple of missions but there was too little fun to keep me gripped past the first couple of missions. Now it just feels like a glorified virtual pet game.
And black and white 2 was worse. How they managed to make it less fun is anyones guess.

Boxes kill trees and disks clutter my desk, give me digital downloads any day. After all, its the game that matters, not the packaging.
Of course, if you are a collector of such things (OMG, The Secret of Monkey Island, NRFTB!!!), I suppose boxes and such are desirable.
They are definitely important to me. They look great on the shelf and it's a good feeling to have something tangible and not just bytes on your harddrive.
Monkey Island 1&2 are great examples.. very nice boxes!
Sierra has a lot of awesome boxes too.
I know it's not very logical but .. well, more often than not, the stuff people collect makes very little rational sense.

I thought that simant was a pretty good game. I think that I would like to see it on GOG.com.

BJWanlund: Grand Theft Auto 1 + 2
Sim City
ANY of the Sim City/Sim Farm/SimAnt/etc. games would be on my "I'd NEVER want these on GOG" list...

WBGhiro: i hope Dreamfall is too new for GOG, don't get me wrong i'd love to see "The Longest Journey" on gog imho it was one of the best, if not the best adventure i've ever played; but Dreamfall is truly an abomination, both gameplay and plot were awful.

I think The Longest Journey already is on GOG.
