I've been wracking my brain, and I honestly can't think of any. If I can see mechanics that I should like, I can usually adjust my thinking to appreciate them.

Umm... yeah, I honestly can't think of anything.

OH

Yes I can.

Street Fighter II.

It looks like a completely awesome fighting game, and my brother is always trying to get me to play it with him... but it's a fighting game. And I just can't muster up enough energy to care one iota about fighting games. If I wanted to play a sport, I'd go outside.

On a similar note, Counterstrike. I think I can see the appeal... but I've given both 1.6 and Source several different tries, and I always end up getting bored. All the frustration of both deathmatch FPSs and military sims, but none the best parts. Plus shoddy weapon balancing and a horrible community. Even if I were more friendly with multiplayer FPSs, I'd still probably have a hard time enjoying Counterstrike. Unless there's something I'm missing... and if so, could someone please explain? It's not like I want to not have any fun :P

Aha! Thought of some more!

Zelda: A Link to the Past - So many great things about this game. But the level of frustration is just too much for me. Dying over and over again...and as a result, traversing the same dungeons over and over again. Eventually I just said "screw it" and gave up.

Super Mario World - Same deal. I managed to get to the forest of illusion after hundreds and hundreds of deaths... then realized I needed to explore the levels I'd already been through to find a secret path to progress. Such a shame, too, because otherwise I would have loved it.

Megaman II - Armed with an emulator and a usb SNES controller, I decided to give this game a try. But it just failed to capture me, despite the intriguing design. I'll probably try again some time in the future.

Skyrim I want to love the game but it's just so short and too boring for me.
FinalFantasyVII People say it's amazing, I don't see it.
KingdomHearts I thought I loved these games, but turned out it bored me to death, all I did was wander around aimlessly for hours.
Oh, i thought of another (and I might get bashed for it):

- Vagrant Story
In theory I really like it and would love to complete it one day, but all this hardcore weapon affinity/immunity stuff is making the game more like work than fun. I've already skimmed a few FAQs and made sure I had a weapon for each different kind of opponent and I still get frustrated by combats where my weapons are doing zero damage. Also, the intervals between boss battles are often too short. I only just beat this totally annoying guy in a very loooong and frustrating and exhausting fight ... and three rooms further there's another one who's even harder to hit?! Just not fun ... :(

iainmet: Love RPG's but just cant get into Temple of Elemental Evil. Difficulty on it is just crazy from the word go, tried vanilla and also the Co8 for start out but everytime I venture out from the town I get killed within minutes. Just cant seem to get to grips with it. I want to be able to get levelled up a bit on it so I can venture a bit further out and actually start seeing what he game has to offer.
ToEE is a very punishing game early on, but stay with it. Once you get past your first level, the game should feel more manageable. Do as many sidequests as you can in the first town, starting with the ones that don't require you to fight.

tarangwydion: No, not really. The thing is I do not have problems with third-person perspective games, only first-person perspective ones do, and again it depends on the movement. If the movement is that old-skool tile-based/step-by-step movement like in Eye of the Beholder series, Anvil of Dawn, then I'm fine. Free movement that does not require fast moving is also fine, I think. Maybe it is the head-bobbing that bothers me.

I also do not want medication just to play games, 'cause otherwise I'm fine.
OMG you shoiuld definately stay away from Portal - I was thinking this while bobbing up- and down though a portal I'm made in the floors of 2 adjacent rooms and it was even making me feel a bit weird - This would KILL those guys who get gaming motion sickness, thought I!

Anyways back on topic - Dungeons of Dredmor
Its an RPG with an involved crafting system and great sence of humor but the crazy amount of items and repetitivness just killed it for me and nearly made me hate all RPGs everywhere and THEN I got killed by discovering my first monster zoo!
Saying that though, I was slogging it, desperately trying to find grog for the Steam Xmas giveaway cheevo so if I nibbled at it and took my time I might potentially like it a bit better I suppose...

Hm, yeah, they should probably go play "Descent" instead. >:D
Starcraft 2
Far cry (Never truly caught me.. was more of a drive around for ages, shoot two dudes.. go on driving than actual fun for me).

City of Heroes: Wanted to enjoy the idea.. hated it and found to be so boring that I am still collecting fragment of the people I went out to shatter just to get rid of it.

Renegade: Mostly because I spent all my hard earned cash on it and then couldn't enjoy it.. Re-played it a couple of years later and managed to enjoy it for one hour or so.. until it died on me again.

Every space merchant game there has been made.. why: Because I so really want to play a good one of them and the only simple one I found which might have turned into something good was merchant marine.. and that game also sucked with its reset everything every time and by being so incredibly small and repetitive..X3 - killed me by learning and so forth. Please dear god you who are in space.. make a simple, big trading game with the more advanced stuff hidden, but accessible as the game is learned.
cool...thanks.

Diablo 2 - While the original wasn't all that bad, it's sequel was thoroughly bland and boring - just an endless grind from one dungeon to another. The only character I had some fun with was the necromancer and the druid but that joy was far too short lived to be considered memorable.....In hindsight I reckon that my approach in playing it as a single player game was wrong and it's probably better played with friends or something - the game hasn't aged all that well though. I finished the game though and the only thing I liked were the cinematics - I probably won't get diablo 3

GameRager: Any games that are open-worlded and/or which contain multiple paths/branches are hard for me to complete......this includes(not limited to) : Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, Mass Effect 1/2, DA:O, etc. I am OCD addled(have to look at/interact withy everything in a game the first time around background/graphics wise......look at all scenery & props...etc. I also have to TRY to complete whatever I can the first time through. such games listed prior are bad for this, sadly.) and it affects my gameplay(mostly in more open outdoor areas, not contained buildings and smaller zones/areas/etc.). :(

Irenaeus.: You should try Thief, each mission is a closed-sandbox which rewards players looking in strange locations :)

I have really tried to get into Flight-Sim games, ever since Elite, but I generally suck at them all, especially the ones with that at least pretend to have proper Newtonian Mechanics (never mind actual Newtonian Mechanics, yes I'm looking at you, Elite 3...)
I LOVE Thief. I'm actually doing a playthrough of the original Dark Project version in general forums, and posted a guide to getting it to run on newer OSs(if you have a non-GOG original version) in the Thief sub-forums.
The Longest Journey, eXperience 112, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
I'm having trouble with adventure games in general. I really liked the setting of those three and tried to play them, but it's really like I am running around all the same places without a plan or idea what I am doing, clicking every pixel on the screen... When I know what to do, then I enjoy those games immensely, but as soon as I am stuck, I lose my patience very quickly and fun is over :( I know I'll be back to Experience 112 and maybe TLJ. I hope I can learn to play adventure games someday. Anyone can propose an easy game to start with? (At the moment I am considering purchase of Monkey Island remakes, but I don't know if I can have fun with those...)

Messiah
A rather big disappointment in gameplay. Really bad first impression turned me off of this game. I would really have to run out of games to come back to this one.

Big Race USA
Again, I wanted to like it, but I just suck in pinball games. I guess it won't change because there are so many interesting genres to go first :)

Fahrenheit
The same reason that were posted here: QTE spoiling the fun. In my opinion, the idea to use QTE was a good thing, but the execution... They shouldn't be that hard! It's easy to forget the main dish - an intriguing story, just because whole afternoon I am trying to click my way through one stupid QTE...

X3
I love beautiful surroundings, planets, space stations and so on. But to do anything in this game ... takes.... literally... forever... And the fighting mechanics don't seem to be interesting to me either.

NFS: Shift, Shift 2 Unleashed
The driving model is just terrible. And they are advertising these as racing simulators. Neither simulators, nor fun.

TOCA Racing Driver 2
When I had Playstation1 I mostly played racing games and I still like them very much. But many games from Codemasters just do not have a heart within them. TOCA 2 and GRID looked like fun but it quickly appeared to me that they don't have some kind of racing spirit one can find in Gran Turismo, GTR or Race series. Though I like DiRT 1, Fuel and Colin McRae 2. Please more racing games GoG!

Are you talking about the original, or the sequel?

Thief is cool. I loved Thief II when I played it a few years back. Thief I isn't grabbing me as much... not sure why. Probably 'cause now I've got a bunch of other games demanding my attention. I'm going to need to make myself sit down and play the game, without getting distracted by "ooh, new armor in Terraria!" :3.
