Fallout 1 & 2.
It's the isometric view more than anything else. They also seemed quite difficult to understand what was going on. Would love to give the Baldurs Gat e games a go but I know i'm going to be disappointed.
Morrowind.
Would give it another go if the journal system was sorted out. It was a pain to keep track of quests.

Karlallen: Just out of curiousity what games do you enjoy? Most games are fiction and the majority will no doubt have an element of fantasy or unbelievable sci-fi. Even The Sims had Makin' Magic.
Karl

I"m definitely cool with an element of fantasy in games, but I really dislike (this goes for movies, books as well) when they attempt to make a story as real as possible but base it on the most ridiculous premise ever.
In Assassin's Creed they talked so much about DNA and during pause/load screens you'd see nucleotide structures flashing accross the screen and then they base the entire story of their game on the idea that DNA stores ancenstral memory. I would have prefered they used a time-machine or something, because at least the idea of a time-machine hasn't been completely disproven yet. The idea that DNA stores memories was just so ridiculous that I could never get past it.
When you consider the diversity and uniqueness of human experience/memory and compare it to the differences between individuals DNA there is just no correlation. Then factor in the experience of multiple generations and look at those differences..... sorry but I don't think SNPs can account for that much information. L2hire biologists when developing games imo

As has been mentioned, Psychonaughts is a game I just totally fail to understand the popularity of. I've given it a go and just fail to see where the humour is, the supposedly sublime platforming and the overall great gameplay. I got as far as the first HUGE boss running around a cube and just gave up due to sheer and utter boredom.
Beyond Good & Evil is another game that is just 'beyond' me to understand why everyone who's played it seem to totally jizz over it all the damn time. I found the platforming to be of standard fare, taking photos ruined the flow of the game and combat to be fairly average. I can fully understand why it didn't sell very well as I don't think it was a game that is classed as a classic.
It's quite possible that 3D platforming just isn't my thing since the days of the original Tomb Raider.
I'de have to agree, Oblivion.
I played it on 360 when my pc was dead, tryed it on pc, i just get bored lol... I enjoy open ended world's but sometimes it's just a bit "To Open" for my tastes. Another game im trying to get into but just can't is Deus Ex:Invisible war. Im pushing myself to try but geeeez am i bored.
Talking about oblivion it reminds me when I tried to play TES Arena, that game its hard I didnt even make it out form the first dungeon
I bought Fallout 1 from here but can't get into it, it feels too open for my liking. I'm going to have to sit down and read the manual, but right now I don't have the time to play anyway.

I actually had a pretty good time with DE:IW. Although, it wasn't until later that I realized it was a sequel. In comparison DE:IW stinks, but by itself it's pretty good. I don't know, there always seemed to be so much going on in the background for me to go and listen to or ignore or jsut start hacking into.. it seemed pretty open ended in that way.
I would like to see a third Deus Ex with a much more open environment, all of them so far have been limited to 'areas' with exploration being fairly limited in my opinion... anyway... here's hoping things perk up for you in IW.
The original X-Com and Terror from the Deep. I just couldn't get my head around the graphics in the Battlescape. I was too spoiled with the graphics from the first Jagged Alliance. Even till this day I think the graphics in JA are excellent.

Cameron: Assassin's Creed....
I went into it expecting something similar to Prince of Persia, what I got was a ridiculous story (ancestral memories stored in DNA...um yeah we have 95% homology with a common mouse so those memories must include life as a rodent) and lame combat.

Dunno, I thought the story had its good points if you read all the emails and whatnot, though you have to work for that, it's easy to miss. The rest of the game is pretty much like that, actually. A few moments of brilliance (the assassinations can be damn fun) under an immense pile of crap. I'm hoping they tighten things up for the sequel, as the concept itself shows lots of promise.
Final Fantasy 7. The controls are bad, the graphics are bad... don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with old games' graphics in general, but it really shows that it is a very early 3D game. I want to play it... maybe there'll be a remake sometime.
Unlimited SaGa is another one. Just hard to get into, due to being complex and really damn obtuse.

Give it time. I mean, I bought it from here as well and I really didn't expect anything. But one thing you wouldn't want to do is compare the game interface with what you have come to expect.
I know I haven't and the moment I start comparing the general stuff like graphics, sounds and UI with what I have come to expect, I would not be able to play it. But the story/gameplay and etc is still pretty fun. (I love stealing stuff from the NPCs)
But of course, this could just end up being a "game you tried to play many times but just could never ever do it" :)
Now that I think about it, the person who mentioned Beyond Good and Evil was right. I tried playing that as well but couldn't get pass a certain stage due to the awful camera+control. It was a shame though because I thought the art of the game and the music was pretty damn good.
Sims....grrrr...how can this be called A game?
I was under the impression that games were made for playing, unless of course your definition of playing means doing the same crappy and meaningless tasks you have to do day to day in your life anyway.
I just started posting here, but I gotta say, I am impressed with the community here. 3 pages so far about what games people DON'T like, and it hasn't devolved into a flame war. Bravo, all around.
To answer the actual question, I have to say, Morrowind. I tried several times to play it, but I couldn't stand more than a couple of hours.

Wow ... we must be separated at birth ... I was nearly going to add "Beyond good and evil" to go along with my psychonauts opinion.

Very true that I haven't given it the time it deserves, but based on first impressions I felt a bit lost. My opinion may well change.
