Syniurge: Arx Fatalis and KOTOR 2, after that one I've been very doubtful that Avellone is responsible for PS:T's greatness.
The dialogs wih Kreia were unbearable, and the dialog choices retarted compared to KOTOR 1 (which were hilarious in my opinion).
edit: also Homeworld 2.
I... I know the point of this topic is to comment on ones you hate that others love, and for me the conversations with Kreia had a very big effect on my life at the time of first playing the game so I'm not the right person to say anything on it. Basically I'll just politely disagree. I'm a huge fan of Chris Avellone's writing, to me he's one of the best writers out there. I played KotOR2 before PST but while going through PST now, I see a lot of elements of the story of PST bled into KotOR2, just in a different context.
My games for the list are as follows:
Halo: I just don't get the love of the series. I played the first one, got about halfway through and just really didn't enjoy it at all. The arguement often comes up as "It's all about the multiplayer..." well then it's definitely not for me because the only multiplayer I enjoy it co-op.
Final Fantasy 7: I find the game to be incredibly overrated. Sephiroth is by no means the greatest villain people claim him to be, Aeris' death did nothing for me emotionally. I basically beat the game because I had it at a time when I tried to beat every game I got.
BioShock: While I don't
hate it per se, it basically rips off SS2 in so many ways that I just go "Guys, you know saying spiritual successor doesn't mean copy everything in the original title that was amazing and give it an underwater coat of paint right?" I was grumpy as all hell when I knew the Atlas plot-twist the second he first spoke to me just because I've played SS2 so many times. I worked at Gamestop when BS came out and had to constantly hold my tongue while working on the floor and listening to people say it was one of the best games ever (to me that is SS2).
