Salsa_Shark: Ive gotten my moneys worth with OB. Over 400 hours with tf2. it would be a lot more but ive had nothing but problems with that game and steam when it comes to connection issues and such. and my computer is constantly breaking down and having to reformat my hdd and it takes about 4 days of download time to actually update it. but it is pretty damn annoying having to buy extra copies of games you own. Ive had to rebuy alot of games because i was a "console tard" and bought everything for my xbox

I'm not an MP fan, i just don't like playing with people i don't know. I know, i should go to a doc, or something. I'd gladly play the game on a LAN party though. If I was to buy OB i'd buy the physical disk, my connection is pretty fast, but STEAM already tried my patience with the AvP demo [yeah, i didn't read into the news, and downloaded it, learning later, it was MP only, i'm with stupid;P]. So i would end up paying 50 bucks for something i wouldn't play much, and Portal/EP2, not a great deal at all. Though i don't think it would be so awesome even if i was into MP. [i'm only good in duke3d MP];)
I was tempted to add consoles to my hatelist, but i see many people here actually owning those, so i just stuck with "consolitis".;)
Which brings me to a little off top: Anyone knows a free and good visual c++ environment?
A friend mentioned "visual studio" or something, but that doesn't look free to me. ;)

The Express Edition is free for personal use. If you just want to program, it's perfect.
If you're absolutely anti-Microsoft (and I don't know why because Visual Studio is an excellent product), there's still Code::Blocks.

Arteveld: Let me spoil that for You...
Diablo 3/Starcraft 2 ;P
[the urge was stronger than me, sorry;P]

Except that we were talking about indie games. ;)
Speaking of Diablo, I was soooo disappointed by Diablo 2 (here is another game that I really disliked) that I'm wondering if I have to lower my expectations for D3.

IMO Diablo 2 is fine....when you play it for the first time. Then it is just boring repeating grind for lvl up and/or new items.

Totally agree. If it wasn't a Blizzard game it would not have done as well as it did.

Just when i tried to stay on topic, damn You!:P
There's hope in indie games, and in the eastern European part [no, not CDP, sorry GOG:P].
Russian have some damn good ideas, they just lack the polish. When nobody is looking over their shoulder, breathing down their necks, they can suck hard [those Jagged Alliance clones....], but when somebody DOES stand there, looking and breathing, we get a neat little game [K's B, even HOMMV]. ;)

I've lowered my expectations for D2 and it worked, i don't want to lower them any more, because i'll wake up one day swimming in a pool of feces being with the I-Just-Won-On-The-Lottery Grin. ;P
The lack of HP potions and randomized overworld really put me off, MORE than the cheesy candy pastel colors.
Another thing for the hatelist:
Absurd difficulty level [Contra and such]
I suppose I should say Star Trek: Legacy. If there was ever a posterboy for disappointment Legacy would be it. Bad engine, old gen graphics, resource hog, boring story, absurd climax. Any game that requires a mod to be playable is a disgrace.
Lucidity. GAWD THIS GAME WAS TERRIBLE!
In case you find it on Steam or Xbox, don't buy it. It's a rage-driving game, only worth for the graphics and the music.
