Defending your territory/attacking others is a part of KoDP, though; it's not like in Papers, Please where you just click to fight (no thinking involved), or like in Long Live the Queen where you just follow the script (again, pretty mindless).

Already played Anna and Myst series, fyi.

The truth is that the story of Fahrenheit, especially at the end, is quite convoluted and unreal (although it may be a side effect of the kind of game it is), but the feeling of being in control of what you do is very good, at least at first run.
Because of that I like this game and I would love to play another game on PC of Quantic Dream developers.
But yes, in my opinion, from storytelling point, Shadow of destiny is a best game.

As that kind of games are also my favorites (adventures with multiple choices/multiple ends)
If you are interested, cmdr_flashheart, someday I want to play Walking dead, Memento mori
and The Last Express (this game especially because it is in real time, so of course, choices
are in real time).

Also there is a game with the same mechanical, from the creators of Shadow of destiny
on Nintendo Ds. It's name is Time Hollow.

So, also, I recommend you this games.

The last express, Maupiti island, Journeyman project 1-3, Quest for glory 1-5 (has some combat but nothing major since it's mainly an adventure game), BAT 1-2, I have no mouth and i must screem is sorta nonlinear, Bloodnet and i dunno, some other games as well i guess
