Among the games I was planning to get during the sale, I've noticed a few (i.e. Alpha Centauri, Wing Commander I+II, Space Rangers, and a few more) are unfortunately missing all the respective expansion packs, wich according to several posters means I'd miss out a lot.

Does anyone know if GOG has plans to include the expansions in the near future, or should I get them from somewhere else?

This has been discussed to death. There were issues with getting some expansions from EA, either due to rights issues or the company itself. GOG have said they will continue to work on making them available.

Get them from somewhere else. GOG employees have stated that it's very hard for them to get the expansions and that we shouldn't expect to see them anytime soon.

It's been months since the last "we're working on it" post, hence me asking if there's any news. Not yet, but some will in a few days.

There have been some compilations of these games on physical media which contained the expansions. But it's probably difficult to find new copies in most cases.

Edit: Yeah, Alpha Centauri is one example. You can still buy it on CD-ROM with the expansion included. Space Rangers, too (it's also available digitally).

And even when they have the expansion, GOG sometimes sells the game without the expansion anyways. For example, Patrician II - I don't know why GOG even sells this game at all when Patrician III is the exact same game plus the expansion.

on't mean to mock Gog(well maybe just a bit of chastisement)....but it seems silly how every time we ask for info on various things it all boils down to either other goggers surmising or staff confirming they won't tell us anything due to trade secrets/contracts/etc. C'mon Gog, not every bit of info on your operations can be a trade secret....tell us some stuff. :)

I can't be bothered to find the right post, but wasn't this a hilarious case of misunderstanding, with EA guys convinced that rights to the expansion packs were already covered by the original deal ? I vaguely remember facepalming at that...

Vagabond posted something like that, yes. But since the expansions are still missing, I have to assume that his information wasn't accurate.

There was. I remember a response from either T or Galimatis (sp?) that basically said 'Give us some credit', which is fair.
