Star Wars: Empire at War
Dungeon Siege had a fun menu, from memory, all clanky chains and rotating menu entries.

Forgot about that one, good call. It kind of reminds me of Thief which looked good but I always thought was a tad clunky.
Half-life 2. A living backround, it was always from the place where you last saved to.

Fallout 3s main menu is great also.

There are some bad ones as well, the IE games for example. Baldur's Gate has a lame one and Planescape.
Good music but unattractive and clunky design.

That was such a brilliant idea!

And I just thought of another one! Suprised that no one mentioned it (unless I missed it)

Batman : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cn1gqNNzTHs

Top3 definitely with regard to menu music (other 2 : Civ IV and Evil Genius)

Hitman - Bloodmoney

I just liked the idea of seeing all your targets sitting there in a church, and disappearing one by one as you progress through the game. The fact that the menu was also the actual setting of the last mission and thus an integral part of the game was the cherry on the cake.

Yeah! That was awesome. One of the best endings to a game. The Hitman series has always had stylish menus.
Hitman Bloodmoney ending? ....nope, I cannot think of a single game with a more satisfying and kickass ending.

You know, I may just have to play this again, now. Just because you mentioned it!

This is not a bad thing...
Cooking mama has great menus.
Brutal Legend has one that blows your mind and your soul.
Cannon fodder where you start with a queue of guys ready to go to war then the hills get littered with their graves as you get them killed!
Cute AND it makes you think!
War - never been so much fun!
The one title that really changed it in term of menu presentation for its time and myself is Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy

It is a DVD like menu, very immersive as the game, one of my favorite.. Until close to the ending, arrr arrr arrrliens. :/.

One that I noticed instantly and still like is the start up of Skyrim. Not that the menu is particularly special, but the game loads, you get a Bethesda/Skyrim logo thing, and then the menu.

I don't recall having to rip out loads of splash screens for all the different companies involved in every single aspect of the game. It was just clean and quick.

Un-modded menus in game on the other hand are atrocious. Though not as bad as the inventory management I'm discovering now in Mass Effect. I really hope ME 2 and 3 improve on this...

jamyskis: I remember that Forsaken was fairly revolutionary in its use of full 3D for menus. ...
No way... you mean this game? :http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/forsaken
I somehow completely missed you mentioning the game. I haven't heard or thought of that game for a good 15 years - thanks for reminding me! It came bundled with my Voodoo2, along with 'Incoming' and 'Ultimate Race Pro'
