Licurg: In Hotline Miami, you can kill with doors.
avatar
keeveek: XD Great answer!

FraterPerdurabo: Counterstrike!
avatar
keeveek: yeah, I know about this :D Is it common in Counter strike like it is in Day of defeat that there are people "scanning" doors with heavy machine guns?

Scanning is when people empty entire magazines into the door hoping it will hit somebody.
I could write an essay about wallbanging in CS.

jamyskis: It was, and it basically ruined the game in MP. The ability to shoot through doors and thin walls was a perk, which made playing MP with longer-serving gamers a nightmare (skill be damned).
Why? It requires a different attitude but ruined? Killing through walls is present in counter strike since forever and nobody says it ruined anything. You just need to learn not every cover is a good cover.

Counter Strike applied the same rules to all players. Modern Warfare applied it to whoever had the perk.
In Red faction you can kill doors so you don't have to worry about someone hiding behind them.

rrr8891: you can kill through doors in thief 1 and 2 but its kind of a graphical error.
Yeah i remember leaning from behind the door all the way to the hallway and smashing some poor sod's head with a club, and he couldn't see me even though the hall was well lit because i was leaning from a dark room. Now that's a cool abilty.

Silent Storm, it's turn-based-tactics
Everything PC I know of has been mentioned here already.

In Goldeneye(N64, easy enough to emulate if you're not against that sort of thing) there are certain weapons that can shoot through doors.

I was never big on the campaign but that game was really fun for splitscreen death matches.

Not sure it was intentional on the developer's end of Dark Souls, but you can actually kill enemies when they're on the other side of the door. You simply close the door with the enemies on the other side, and with a spear or long sword or similar weapon just stab through the door multiple times and kill the enemies.

I suppose Call of Duty 4 and the later titles (and earlier ones perhaps? Haven't played the earlier ones) would count as well. Your bullets can penetrate through certain walls so you could possibly kill off enemies on the other side.

That's all the ones I can think of at the moment.

Perfect Dark for the 64 had a sniper called the farsight that had thermal vision that could see and shoot through doors, walls, floors, rocks, and well basically an entire level. And it had a small auto targeting capability on top of it... and it would 1 shot kill anything no matter where it hit. Had to be one of the most OP weapons in any FPS that I've ever played.
Silent storm... and not just through the doors, but floor aswell

Huh... Would you look at that? Something that was taken for granted on single-player is not automatically available on multiplayer? Strange...
i was just about itching to say Aliens: CM then remembered before the fix you couldnt shoot through an open door!
so i then was going to say Red Faction but noticed that was already mentioned - That gun was epic!
So time to fire up some of my old favs and see if there is any i can spot in the cause of this thread of course! purely scientific....

Grargar: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. If I remember correctly, this was the first Call of Duty to allow you to kill enemies through doors/walls.

Elmofongo: Does Arma 2 and 3 have that feature?
yes we do have in our games (A1, A2, A3) material penetration based on material type and caliber etc.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
You could shoot through door, breach doors using breach charge blowing up anyone on the other side, use c4 to blow up the door and anyone even remotely near. You don't just blow up the entire door, depending on where the explosion was, splinters of the door could still remain. The wood sprayed the wood when blown up. The remaining splinters on the door could be shot off piece by piece or just blown up altogether. The list goes on...

Should cover your door killing fetishes for a while :P

This topic is alive and even people from Bohemia int. are answering in it!

Confirmed to be the greatest thread ever!

Since your from Bohemia I have 3 questions:

1. ...Will Arma 3 ever come to GOG and the exclusivity on steam is only temporary?

2. Is the System Requirments for Arma 3 higher than 2, or not that much, my PC can handle Arma 2, Battlefield 3, and Crysis 1 thanks to the Nvidia GTX 560ti.

3. And is this game more polished than Arma 2, in the control scheme such as is movement more tighter, is aiming guns tigher, you don't glitch trying to get through doors, and driving vehicles better such as I don't have to press Alt to look around the cockpit?

I am sorry if I am asking too much, I just got into this series with Arma 2 (and I knew of this game before DayZ) and I liked this game a lot, when I was younger I always wanted this kind of realism in Military FPSes and you guys delivered :)
