What netbook did you try that on?

Samsung NC10, EEE PC 1000H and Aspire One.
you could try the 3danalyze program yourself and see if you can get some results.
i tried multiple ways using that tool and had no results except quit back to desktop.

if you get it working, note down the settings you used please.
what does it do? it intercepts directx calls from the game executable and tricks it into thinking that certain functions do exist on the machine you are on.

just realised, my lenovo S10e has a resolution of 1024x576, which in theory makes it difficult to even play 800x600 games.
flashpoint will happily display this, and fallout 2 certainly doesn't seem fussed, but does anyone know of any problems regarding this?

Nobody said Max Payne yet? Obviously one game that no one should miss out, your netbook can probably easily handle it, but probably wouldn't be handle Max Payne 2.
The Diablo Series by Blizzard is a good choice as well, not to mention Warcraft 1-3.
Can't go wrong with neverwinter nights either, you could play Unreal Tournament 1999 as well.

cheers, but really looking for GoG games for netbooks, and the fact that GoG would earn much love if they indicated which GoG games had been tested and worked on Intels Diamondville netbook platform.

Unreal Tounament 2004 ECE - Runs perfectly at low/medium settings. Resolution choices are 800x600 upwards, directly supports 1024x600 (im uncertain if 640x480 is supported. but the engine scales very very well so its possible and i just didnt notice it in the list)
Game has no bugs or flaws.
whilst its not on gog.com, i will state that Max Payne 2 works flawlessly at medium/high detail settings on my Samsung NC10 (1000h, acer aspire one, msi wind equivalents)

Has anyone tried Disciples 2 on a netbook? I'm looking at buying an Eee PC 1002HA soon, and I would love to be able to run this excellent game on it.

Update -
Disciples II - Works perfectly. Resolutions supported are 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024.
Game appears to run perfectly at maximum detail settings with no noticeable slowdown. Options are available for turning off different affects, but they default to high and theres no real need to turn them down on my netbook.
Configuration of resolution etc is done outside the game using the game config tool available from the start menu shortcut.
Note : Not sure which game comes first. There are two desktop shotcuts, one for dark prophecy & galleans revenge, the other is for Rise of the Elves. I 'think' DArk Prophecy is the first game to play but is a little confusing when you see Galleans Revenge appear in the game.

i edited my post above to reflect my thoughts about Disciple 2 after playing it a bit.
I dont know about Disciples 1 however because i havent bought that game. Its a good bet though that if one works, the other will aswell.

I'm currently playing Gothic from GOG on an Aspire One and it works great with all details turned to high. I highly recommend trying out demos for games you're not sure your netbook can handle -- I am currently testing Warcraft 3 (which works very well) and Thief 3 (which is hardly playable with everything turned way down, but then again that's hardly surprising). As has been said, GOG is a fantastic platform for netbook gaming in general :)

not very good performance on the game even with the lowest detail settings - there really arent many settings to fiddle with. i havent looked in fraps but i would hazard a guess that its in the 10-15 fps range. feels lower at times.
turning off sound completely doesnt raise the framerate.
using downscaling in the astray app renders the game unplayable because of the overhead needed by astray to downscale the screen to fit.
zooming all the way out, so you dont have to worry so much about scrolling the screen up and down, lowers the framerate even more.
not the best game to play on a netbook. but it works!
