F4LL0UT: I have a theory but that one involves gambling, drugs and hookers so it's probably wrong.
If it turned out to be right though, it would be rather refreshing given who the OP is.

mrkgnao: If I may be so bold, what do you need the list for?
I wonder about the same thing, and have a terrible-terrible suspicion at the very back of my head, but will wait and see if the OP replies.

Spinorial: There is an outstanding issue with the copyright for the game's source code, which they, to my knowledge, have not even acknowledged; it was brought to their attention before the game even went on sale.
That issue has persisted ever since the original Steam release of AvP Classic. I feel a bit sorry for the guy and was shocked when I first heard about how Rebellion handled the issue but I think he's the last guy who'd want GOG to stop distributing the game (heck, if he had wanted to he would have taken legal steps like five years ago). And surely the contract between GOG and Rebellion guarantees that Rebellion has all the necessary rights to make distributional deals for this game and makes Rebellion solely responsible for that issue with the source code. I don't see how it's GOG's duty to resolve this.

Spinorial: So no, their responsiveness really isn't inspiring any confidence, and if anything, they seem to be rushing some of their releases. I can only assume there's major crunch going behind the scenes, because otherwise I've got nothing...
A whole bunch fo the reports on the bug tracker are either useless or unreleated to multiplayer. Guess the GOG people may not know how to respond and follow a philosophy of "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything". :P

I admit I am not so sure why either. Admittedly, he has deserved it in the past, but this is a new thread with a clean slate on his part, if you will.

It's GOG's duty to ensure it has all the necessary rights to sell a product. It's not enough that someone comes to them and tells them "I've got the rights, you get 30%, gogogo!" Moreover, I don't think it's a matter of whether the author is resigned to it or not: GOG has always maintained a strict stance on copyright matters and have demonstrated a desire to have a spotless record there. I honestly think they have just overlooked it, to their own detriment! I don't want it, sirlemonhead doesn't want it, Rebellion doesn't want it, and GOG doesn't want it, but at this moment, GOG simply don't have the right to sell this version of AvP.

And when it comes to the tracker, they're quite adept at giving blunt answers and identifying non-issues - just read over some of their posts there and in the WAG section.

cataclism: But I would like a clarification on your witched adventure problem. What happens when you try to play when offline?
I made the mistake of trying to play offline when my computer was actually online. It immediately phoned home at launch and tried to run an update on something. Well, unfortunately, where I was staying for the holiday weekend had very slow internet, so the update just hung there. For a half hour. Each time. With no option to enter offline mode. I was able to play after a half hour, though. [With the same install, I can play offline immediately if my computer is not online.]

I may have downloaded the first installer. There was a new one available and Judas claims it was a "bug" and is fixed. But really. This is their own product. They claim to be all about the DRM-free. They didn't bother to test single-player? What happens when ALL of their games come like this?

You. Had. One. Job. GOG.

EDIT: I don't think anyone else sees it my way (outside of some PMs with one of the regulars here), but it was a bit of a gut-punch to have no access to a game that I bought - for the first time in over a decade since I last played Diablo 2 and they had server issues or I had internet issues. As I buy exclusively DRM-free and have really enjoyed my time at GOG, given their public stance on things, it left a very sour taste that's not easily overcome by "we fixed the 'bug.'"

I would have felt exactly the same, had I bought the game. Luckily, I was spared by the 10% discount. I am still waiting for a more substantial promo. Hopefully by then it would be fixed (if not already so).

I haven't bothered to install the updated version, since my gaming computer is rarely online and I can access WAG while offline. Reports are that the offline choice is now before the phone home, but I haven't verified. I do hope this is a function they consider testing before releasing more Galaxy-coded installers (if that's what will happen). Regardless, I'm getting everything onto an external before that option no longer exists.

I was in the beta so got the hefty discount. And the game itself is quite awesome imo.

Seems like you're overreacting, no offense. If GOG intended the game to only be played on-line they wouldn't have bothered fixing the bug. They did and yet you still attack them?
The bug, even with testing could easily have been missed considering it only happened because an update was available.
Seriously, this doesn't sound like a big deal at all.

No offense taken, and I think most people agree with you. I'm not sure I would have chosen the word "attack", because that wasn't exactly my intention, but my lack of confidence in the team, since late August, just increases. Sorry if my bias shows through too much. Still completely turned off by the prospect of Galaxy. I'm client free since 2003!!! :)

I also got the 40% discount email for beta players, but when I clicked on it, I was still offered only 10%.

If you're still interested, try actually putting it in your cart and see if it shows up at $5.99. Support may also be able to help. Think I may have heard about this, but I could be thinking about another game... And again, now that I'm able to play, I definitely admire the design that went into the gameplay and mechanics. If you enjoyed the beta it's probably worth the 40% off point.

Well, I'll be damned. Now when I enter the game page it does say -40%.
I guess that was another bug (@cataclism, this is not an attack, just a statement of fact from one who has seen many such bugs).
I suspect I will buy it soon enough in that case. Thanks.

Glad it's working. Had just been searching for this: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/preorder_the_witcher_adventure_game_484a3/post47
Is it too unlikely that games with defunct multiplayer servers will get a new lease on life?
