Recently I got GoldenEye for the N64. I heard it is one the best FPSs from numerous sources so I figured I'd try it out. It was terrible. The game has aged very badly. Everything from the level design to the AI freaking sucks when compared to any game made now, or even any game made the year after. I just don't understand how when comparing it games made now it could be the best ever apart from the fact that every article written about starts of like "i remember back in 1997 when i was young and stuff...". I'm not denying it probably could have revoultionised console FPSs and also that fact that the multiplayer is OK it's just has anyone tried playing it today?
So are there any games you think that have aged badly?

Hmm. None immediately come to mind. Silent Hill 1 possibly. It used to be my favourite, over 2-4. After recently playing it, 2 is my favourite.

Gotta agree about goldeneye, arguably the most overrated game ever made. As far as an FPS on a console went it was probably the first to have a useable control system if you happened to have the freak handsnecessary to use those godawful controllers. Halo was the first console FPS that actually felt good to me but then I was playing with the original xbox controller which was made for someone with hands my size.
Most of the games I own have actually aged fairly well, probably a side effect of getting fewer games

I can think of two straight away, Warcraft with its inability to right click and command units around. I can live with the graphics its just the having to left click on your unit and then click on what you want it to do then click on what its too much for an RTS.
The second game is shadow of the horned rat. I loved this game back when it came out and would love to play it again but the control system has also aged horribly. I can still play dark omen but I would love to play shadow of the horned rat again with at the very least dark omen controls.

Goldeneye for the N64 is one of the most over-rated titles in the history of video gaming. It was merely the first successful split-screen FPS on a console. Goldeneye came out in 1997. By comparison, Quake 2 and Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight came out the same year. Both titles are vastly superior to Goldeneye in every respect. Goldeneye is only remembered fondly because when it came out console players had no idea what made a good FPS.

Wow. I just played Goldeneye for hours last night with some friends, and it was a ****ing blast. So was Super Smash Bros.
EDIT: Also, I have to say that I played Silent Hill 1 for the first time very recently, and it was the most horrifying video game experience I've ever had. In a good way, of course.

Ditto for Dune 2. Exact same issues there. That, and the missing ability to group your units, forcing you to move your army one unit at a time.

Not sure about Dune 2 but in Warcraft you can get groups of 4 somehow I think if you hold control or shift and select them. I don't think I actually figured that out until I had beaten both the human and orc campaigns though.

The original Command and Conquer (or the entire series, to be honest).
Harvesters are incredibly slow, when the enemy is sending wave after wave of enemies, getting the resources required to not only defend, but launch a massive strike is pure tedium.
I was obsessed with C&C back when it was released, but now it's just a mindless "strategy" game lacking any real thought.

I haven't played C&C3 and RA3.
Generals was probably the pinnacle of the series, which is a shame considering it didn't follow the regular C&C lore, though it still came down to endless waves of enemies and tank rush tactics.
Speaking of the sand bag trick, that's another thing that pissed me off to no end. Building placement.

I'll throw in System Shock 2, too. That game does rely on immersion and low poly thingies shambling towards you doesn't cut it now.

Curse of Monkey Island. Sorry but I feel its true.
