Thunderstone: I usually see the vote between the republicans and democrats as a choice between being shot and hung. This is why one of my favorite episodes of south park is the douche and turd episodes. That covers how I feel every election.

etna87: Which party is equivalent to being shot? I can see a clear advantage here, since the shock will hopefully ease the pain until it's all over, which should not take long - whereas hanging means a painful choking death.
A properly constructed noose and a properly constructed gallows will snap your neck rather than strangling you, which makes it far preferable to being shot. In the days when hanging was more common, if a man actually suffocated it was considered shameful for the executioner. Of course, if you're shot in the stomach it can take hours or days to actually die, while a headshot is much faster. So I guess it would depend on the competence of the folks involved in both cases.

hedwards: That is true, but it's been a while since the GOP was willing to even pretend like the care about America. At least at the party level.
Be carefull. Talk like that and JCD-Bionicman may come in here and rip you a new one. :P

Yeah, I know, it's rather unfair bringing facts into things like this.

I must admit I briefly considered the possibility of your neck snapping, but then decided to be ignorant and remembered that I had never seen a neck snap in a movie hanging. Not enough drama involved, I guess. After writing my post, I also wondered how painful choking really is - probably painful only for a short time, before losing consciousness, but... oh well, this whole discussion is pretty pointless ;-)
They forgot the 4th option in that poll: Violent Thugs who ACTUALLY commit the crimes regardless of weaponry or lack of or what they do for recreation.

Oh and for the people who claim that "guns do the killing," let me remind you it takes an actual PERSON to pull the trigger and that guns have successfully been used in defense when no other means of protection would have worked even when the criminals themselves did not have any guns.

So to all who call my republic one of "rednecks" and those who blame video games for everything, worry about your own fuck ups within your own countries.

By the way, I have way more respect for those who you all refer to as "rednecks" than many of you or those who claim to be "civilized" or "sophisticated."
I continue to be pro-guns (assuming they are in the hands of responsible citizens) and pro-games.

You're tone could have been nicer, but thank you for standing up for those of us who believe guns can be a good thing in the right hands.

Nicely put. I myself am a gun control guy but I'm more than willing to meet people halfway and I think responsible ownership is a good medium for both sides.

Thanks.
It was actually very clever to limit this "survey": Republicans over 40 and just a little more than 500 people.

They knew exactly what they wanted to hear.
You all think this is funny huh? That this is a joke? You'll all know just how dangerous games are when violent mobs of 12 year olds roam the streets throwing razor sharp copies of Modern Warfare 7 at us. Nowhere will be safe. Then I'll be laughing

I know! It's amazing what you can accomplish with correctly applied selection bias.
I doubt they are so much against violent video games, but Republicans will do anything to avoid saying anything bad about guns.

So to them it became a choice of "I HATE THE SECOND AMENDMENT" and "anything that's not the first option".
I am a republican(and no, i'm absolutly not going to debate with anyone), and i don't understand the republican insistance that guns are not deadly. we go to church, praise Jesus, give to charity, smile kindly at everyone, and then they CONVINCE Themselfs that guns are less deadly then video games! sheesh!

The other day I was playing Wolfenstein 3D and I thought, god forbid games did cause violence, shouldn't we be encouraging games like Wolf and Commandos? The way I see it, getting kids to kill Nazis could only stand to make the world a safer and friendlier place.
Deus Ex HR told me to not shave, and to walk around trying to sound like Clint Eastwood. And it makes me ponder this: if I have bionic arms, why am I unable to move a dumpster without upgrades? (I've been pondering this all day. Are they not on wheels? What if I don't want to pick it up and just want to push it out of the way?). Now that I'm home from work I can check in on that.

But on to topic, man, a lot of people are idiots.
