MaGo72: My Dad plays the hell out of the

Luxor series,
Zuma
and a Skat game

which I bought for him as a gift for his birthday.

Sadly those games are not available on GOG.
I'll have a look at them.

blarth: Hexcells plus is a logic game with very simple controls.
I have an extra steam key for this if you want it.

If your grandpa doesn't use steam, buying it from the authors webpage will give you a drm-free version from humble.com.

It looks really interesting and I'll have a closer look soon. Thanks for your offer. :)

chadjenofsky: Who knows? He might actually enjoy them. Myst was my first Point-and-click adventure and completely loved it. I was also going to suggest the hidden objects games that Snowkatt did. My mom does pogo.com for her game fix. That's got a lot of board games and hidden object games, and of course different solitaire games too.
Indeed, who knows? I just don't want to overwhelm him. :)

Wurzelkraft: I'm afraid these games would be a little overwhelming for someone who is not used to "real" games (with graphics...and story...and adventure...you know what I mean :P). I'd rather keep it as simple as possible. Thanks for your suggestions though. :)

xy2345: Maybe something like Bejeweled? I'd also suggest pinball games. Those are easy to grasp for one not used to playing 'real' computer games.
its always a bit hard to recommend games for somebody who doesnt really play games as we know them

My dad's really into The Incredible Machine series. The latest one has really persistent spoken hints that work well with him but there are options to turn it off if that part gets annoying.

He also likes Burn & Turn, which is free on robotbear.org. It's a fairly intuitive arcade-y dragon thing where you pick up power-ups that stack, roast knights and wizards, and capture princesses, best played with a mouse.
I got a humble bundle game once called Fractal. I enjoyed that.

How old is grandpa and what does/did he do for a living?
If he likes puzzle games, then there are 2 which I loved playing in the 90s: Atomix and Klotski.

You should be able to find modern versions for a tablet: e.g.:

Atomix
Klotski
Start him off on any of the 1001 Mahjong games that are out there? They go from basic 'classic' to adventure puzzle types with an entire story.
Then maybe a Lemmings type game where multiple characters work together on puzzles?
Hidden Object/Adventure games are another possibility.
Checkout BigFish for a lot of ideas.
Triple Town - http://www.gog.com/game/triple_town
I'd rather see him play something like peggle, it's pinball but better and it's rather simple
While not on GOG (yet, vote for it), World of Goo might be simplistic enough (my mom likes it!). There's a demo, too, so you can see whether it suits him before you actually buy it.

I think maybe he can like games like angry birds and Candy Crush (I don't know if is a vesion for PC). many these games are played by members of my family (50 and 60 years old). simple and cute games are the better options (In my opinion)

He is 87 (will be 88 in December) and was a craftsman (worked with cars and later did glass art).

Maybe something like this:

Hidden Object/Puzzle/Mystery. I work with my hands too and this was pretty enjoyable for me.

What do you mean by that? Have you ever started FreeCell and looked at it? It's pretty graphical. ;-P

Also thanks for all your suggestions. I'll have a closer look tomorrow.
