Good point. Ive avoided limiting to a certain genre, because "classic" to me means a game that defies genre expectations/limitations. For example, lots of people love Star Fox 64, but arent fans of any other space shooters. Im just hoping to see a few games that occur on multiple peoples lists. Baldur's gate (not Baulder Im told) is a recurring game, so thats got my attention... Thief series seems to come up alot too...

As for the nostalgia factor, all I can say is, try to shelf it when you give recommendations. If its possible anyway (probably isnt).

Final Fantasy IV, VI and X, Persona 4, Shenmue and Metal Gear Solid.. Video game as Art, deep, clever and fun, entertaining, making you think, feel, live a story along with their characters.. One of a kind games!


Edit : Please, The_Bismarck from your post above, i beg you please remove Far Cry from that list.. Do you want people to enjoy unique gaming experiences or commit suicide!? I don't diss or discuss with people different tastes usually but this one is a no go. Just.. No. Please..

Thanks for the recomendations everyone. Judging by the variety of suggestions, I'll probably end up getting a handful of games. Good thing GOGs prices are low.

Actually I was on the verge of suggesting it too. It's one of the rare FPS that I've replayed a couple of times.

Thank you man, much appreciated :) It doesn't hold up compared to the original Unreal and that's due to the amount of copyright/time/finance issues and the fact that Epic didn't want the new Unreal game to compete multiplayer-wise with Unreal Tournament. Unreal 2 however, was supposed to be much much bigger.

In spite of all the criticism towards the sequel I have fond memories of it, I played it again recently and still have a strange love for it :D

Well it doesnt look bad. It just looks more like Halo than UT, which is probably why the community avoided it.
