None for me. The only game I ever tried to pirate was out of curiosity. (Wanted to see if it actually worked and if people were actually scoring full/real games... this was around 15 years ago). I aborted part of the way through the download as I feared, of all people, I'd get caught and become the next "example".
I guess you could probably say that about Sanitarium. But, then again, I've played through it a couple times since, so I'm not so sure that was as much conscience as wanting to play it again.
I don't see the point, but if there's ever a game that I want to play and don't legally own then I'd buy it. Still, most of my pirated games were in the C64 and Amiga days.
AoW SM and HOMM 3. Too much money for me to afford when I was younger, too much fun to not own. I think I even made myself buy them here when they weren't on a sale, as extra penance.

Although it was kind of needed. I'd gotten a cracked version of AoW SM from a friend back in like 2004 and ever since then I've just been using a USB stick to ferry it around whenever a computer died. It's nice to have the game available whenever, wherever, now.

I've reached the point where supporting the company is important to me. Hell, AoW 1 I already own but I bought it on here anyway just because I wanted to support Triumph. Also because, again, it's convenient to be able to download it.
There has been quite a few games that I have downloaded before they went on GOG. Duke Nukem 3d was the worst for me, It honestly was a bit of relief to own it.

I picked it up in Cash converters for a good £4!

wow nice, but i thought it was online activated etc so the key was auto assigned to the previous owner?

n seeing as i have derailed the thread i should answer the question:
I've had a few in the past (it was the only way to physically get the games where i was then), ive had the odd one since (in my uni days) and now everything is legit that i use. I do still have a few games upstairs (i've never used - ironically) that i am in the process of getting them legit when i can - they are sort of a list, a reminder to get them when i see them, but this is second in line to my transfer my physical disc purchases to digital - like many of us on GOG.

That is what I thought to BUT you can install the game without linking it to an account. Which was great for me I suppose. Even then if you get the disc it is very easy to find a reliable crack. Since the game isn't online anymore (or thats what it told me) no one would care.

Telika: Nope, I buy many games just for that. Knowing I won't re-play them, but paying a debt, even at a symbolic level. It's not only about GOG, but also other games, movies, comics, CDs...

The problem is, when we're at the most "playing" age, we usually don't have the means to get our games legally. So, we kinda accumulate moral debts, by "stealing" what we would not have been able to buy. And, well, afterwards, it's a bit too late to set it right. Even if you overcome your disinterest, the compensations are usually futile (what does gog offer to the original authors -when anything at all- compared to what they would have got when support was crucial ?).

So yes, to clear conscience. We do. It doesn't work that much, but, we have the "at least" to hold onto. :-/
I had a really nicely put answer ready, then I read Telika's...

Now I'll just go with "^^^^This"
Not the only one. I've bought many compilations and re-releases from SNK and Capcom over the years from playing so many of their games on emulators before.
I've only pirated 3 games. One was a game that I owned but the CD stopped working. 2 were downloaded as trials since there wasn't a demo. One of the trials resulted in a purchase and one didn't. Both were deleted after a few days.
I would totally do that, but I can't think of any PC software I didn't own legitimately. I had a lot back in the C64 days, but my conscience wasn't that sensitive back then.

Note: I have done this for music... not that I have "pirated" mp3s in the way you're thinking. I have used stream recorders to record streamed music from things like Grooveshark or Rdio, and then later bought it...

Glubo: Am I the only one, that bought some games on GOG just to clear conscience from long long time ago when I was playing pirated copies of those games as a kid with "no money"? Or are there more of us?
Pirated countless C64 titles with my hole punch engineering to double side my floppy disks! Whoo Hoo! Still waiting for GOG to get those gems but I would feel no obligation to cleanse my soul, simply more selfish motivation to replay those games. Besides, if you feel the couple of pennies those producers are getting from GOG make up for the full price, 25 years of interest and real value make up for your crimes, well.... I sleep soundly either way.
