ON topic
this game is really cool. if you want to argue whether or not it counts as a game, it's about exactly as interactive as a point and click adventure--you are in control, but it is a narrative and you must do the right things in the right order to advance a predetermined (and creepily well-written) story. thing is, I have played lots of games, but none has ever made me afraid like that. it was really brilliantly presented.
@weclock: im not going to take a side in the art or not argument, but you do need to state your definition of art if you are going to claim that something ISN'T art. otherwise, we don't know what qualifications it's missing in your view.
It's quite sad to have nothing better to do than trolling...

Games can be conceptual, but "art" isn't a category that fits very well with the medium. We must invent something new for videogames....

KingofGnG: Games aren't Art

What I got out of that was basically:
"Games cannot be art because it isn't mainstream and/or old enough, and that people only want new crap."
Whether or not that is true, I, in all honesty, do not care about at all. I find the label "art" to generally be so damn pretentious that I normally don't want anything to do with it. So in that regard, art is dickbaggery on a mainstream level.

if this is considered being an art, then games can be art too.

Games aren't art.
Neither are films.
Even paintings aren't art.
Why do I make such preposterous statements? Because these are BS broad generalizations that people use that mean absolutely nothing. You cannot say an entire medium is an art form because not all works are art. Not all paintings are art and not all films are art. In the same way not all video games are art.
The question should be: Are there games that are art?
Art must be taken on a case by case basis, not in these broad, sweeping terms. Halo 3 and Half-Life 2 are not art, much like Die Hard and Raiders of the Lost Ark are not art. However, for games like Braid or Passage a strong argument can be made that they are legitimate works of art.
Half of making a persuasive argument is asking the right questions. "Are games art?" is not one of them.

w00t people arguing the other side to the rescure, high five KingofGnG and lotr-sam0711!
But anyway, I figure since I decided to start a fire and then ever so quickly stomp it out, I might as well give my real opinion on the issue:
Who cares if a game is artistic or not?
The true value in a game isn't whether or not it's art, but in whether or not it is enjoyable to play.
This whole idea of getting games classified as art is ridiculous, simply because it's unnecessary, just go play a game and enjoy yourself.
