That's not directly a Steam problem but a HDD speed problem on your end isn't it?

No idea. It could be a bit of both. I've just never bothered to try installing Steam on that small drive. But what I can tell you, is that there are a huge number of complaints on the Steam forums about the same issue.
Arkham Asylum, Necrovision, Painkiller (BE) and UT3 are all well worth the asking price. Lost Company is also good. But personally I'd say it was worth less than the original. Grab that first.
Frontlines is pretty good for an Unreal engined Modern Warfare style FPS (read: generic). Well it is now the Epic Fuckton patch is out. I like using remote control helicopters to blow people up. But I've got no idea if it's still being played online.
I'm almost certainly going to get Dark Athena now. I would have got it ages ago if it wasn't for the retarded DRM. Luckily GG takes care of that.
I'm interested in Dark Sector and possibly Chaser. Any opinions on those are welcome.

Pass Dark Sector , choose Chaser. ( it's one of my favourite FPS game )
Chaser is actually a decent little overlooked shooter. I never did finish it, actually, and it's a bit unpolished, but it's worth the few bucks they're asking for it.

Thanks guys!
Hm. At first glance I didn't see anything interesting this week, but taking a closer look, there are several that tempt me in the sub-$5 range.
I think I've spent upwards of $50 between GOG and GG over the past month or so. I should really lay off for a while, but when everything's so cheap, I can't help myself.

It's great for the first 40 minutes, and then it becomes rubbish - and I have played Butcher Bay four times and still think it's one of the best FPSes ever. The ulaks (Riddick's twin blades) are the game's only saving grace. The removal of Quicksave, along with tons of bugs such as enemies being able to shoot through walls/crates, means you will be very frustrated, especially if you play on Hard. The AI is even dumber than I remember it to be, as enemies will simply stand in front of you in the dark, lining up and waiting to be shot.
I can continue this list of suckage, and how it convinced me to create a new-found contempt for Riddick, but it'll take me quite a while to complete it. Even Butcher Bay appears to suffer from the same problems, such as AI, that plague the Dark Athena campaign. In other words, if you already own the first Butcher Bay, avoid this.

I really want to get Dark Sector, but it's one of the very few titles on GamersGate that is regionally restricted, so I'm shit out of luck =/ Might get Chaser though.
I wish I knew what titles were coming up in the sale.
Week 1 was RPGs, week 2 is Action.
I'm going to guess and say that Week 3 is RTS, and week 4 will be simulator or adventure.
Does it happen to say anywhere, and I'm not seeing it, or are they being deliberately vague?

So that's a definite no on Dark Sector then. Fair dos.
How good Dark Athena is depends on whether or not you own the first game, which is included in a visually updated state. That game was incredible and stands up there with Arkham Asylum as one of the best licensed games ever.
Dark Athena itself is supposed to be a much more conventional FPS affair than the first part, which had action adventure qualities and first person beat em up action mixed in with the FPSness of it all.

And there were never patches to fix this?

Not as far as I know. Since I played Dark Athena through Steam, I believe it should have been up to date.

That should be it. I'll wager that adventure will not be included in this sale, since GG already had quite a massive adventure sale some weeks ago.

Oh you'd think so, wouldn't you? Unfortunately not every company is very good about keeping every version of the game up to date. Sometimes Steam gets all the patches even when everywhere else doesn't. Other times you've got the opposite thing happening.
Maybe. Not that it makes a difference, since there's only one patch, which doesn't address the core game's issues.
