Hey guys, I got a question that is related to GamersGate for you guys that buy there more frequently than I. I just picked up a PowerMac G5, and I know GG sells Mac/PC games sometimes, and I am curious how that works, do you get one copy for each system, or do you have to choose at checkout? I am wanting to put some games for this Mac to check out how well it handles things, but I wanted to be a bit more sure on how it works.
Some games will give you both a PC and Mac version as separate downloads. Others, you'll have to specifically buy the PC or Mac version. This pretty much depends on the developer.
Bansama's already answered this, but I'll add that in some cases where you get both versions you may be able to gift the version you don't want. Again this depends on the game, mind.
For the games where you get both versions, you can actually gift the unused one to someone else. I have a few Mac versions free that I keep meaning to give away.

EDIT: Damn, ninja'd by Navagon.

On the ones with Mac and PC both, they aren't linked? You can give one version and keep the other?

Yup! It's counted as a bundle of two products. You're buying two things and you can do whatever you want with either. Well some of them are like that but it's easy to tell.

Here's an example of a PC/Mac bundle: http://www.gamersgate.com/DDB-POD/power-of-defense-defend-your-world-bundle

Ah, I see now, thanks for the info! I wasn't sure if I was reading that right or if there was some catch of some sort. Thanks for clearing that up.

It's worth noting that you can only gift them if you don't download them. That is, you can download the PC version and gift the Mac one or vice versa, gift both to different people or download both.

As you can see in the attached picture, there's still a gift button next to my Mac versions because I've never tried to download them.

Oh, so gifting them are the same as gifting other games then. Alright, that makes sense then. The couple GG games I have (from the Sega giveaways) didn't have Mac downloads, just the regular download.

If you are on GG and have a Mac I can gift you the Mac versions of some games I have - just give me your user name.

Not all games. I'm pretty sure I never had that option with Amnesia. But then I had that on pre-order for over 6 months so maybe that's got something to do with it (you can only gift within a certain period of time and only if you haven't downloaded it and haven't made visible the games serial - should it have one).

You should have a Buddy Request pending. Once you accept it I can gift you. The only game I have left is Eschlon Book 2 so I hope you like RPG's

Alrighty, that sounds good, I just accepted the buddy request. You mind if I send you some keys for some betas I have, kind of as a thank you? If so, let me know and I will shoot them over through GOGPM

You should have it now - If you want to pass something along that would be cool but I do not use Steam or the like.
