It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Seems rather than go down the route of a launcher app like Steam, GG have decided to partner with these PlayXpert people. I downloaded it to try it out. Seems nothing more than another program like XFire. Has anyone tried it? Am I missing something good or should I just uninstall it?
GamersGate PlayXpert
It is a garbage for me. I installed it yesterday and it installed something to my graphics driver and after uninstalling the problem my graphics drivers are uninstalled too. So I won't install it again, yes it is like another Xfire no other good features.
Yeah, it installs in to your DirectX drivers...and tells you it's going to do it.
There has been talk in the past that Paradox was going to push for more of a MP matchmaking service for their games, since the EU and HOI games are REALLY good with multiple human players. Maybe this is a first step towards that?
The software is a CPU hog. Without it running my idle CPU usage is about 3-9%, with it running it is 59-63%.. thats with nothing else going on.
The basic premise of it is ok I guess. It has a friends list (with multiple social network site capability), music player, web browser, etc. The system overhead it uses isn't worth it, nor is the fact that it wants to have direct access to your video drivers - Its one thing if you are the type of person who never updates graphics drivers, but I don't need a bloody overlay program to install driver updates that I likely don't need/want. That and its system scoring is kinda... off. My GFX card got a 2.9... and had a little note saying it was 'user reported score'. Windows scores me at a 5 for my graphics chipset.
Might be ok for some folks, but I am not gonna bother with it.
Ugh...I hope they keep it optional.

It is and I opted out. TBH I did notice the system slowing down and given I have a Quad core and 8GB of RAM thats just not acceptable.
Oh, these people. It was pretty "big" around GDC/E3 last year and Destructoid (that classy games media outlet we all know and love) had its own PlayXpert thing and claimed it was such a quantum leap in gaming because you could surf the web while playing or chat while playing! It was like they forgot Xfire or Steam's overlay even existed or something.
In other funny/unfunny news Gamersgate is selling a Left 4 Dead 2 guide.

Wait, Xfire can surf while playing? Also, GG is more of a competitor to D2D than anyone else.
...optionaly, you can play in window mode (yeah...i know...) and use a MSN-like program to chat, and *gasp*, have a internet browser on too, so you can surf the web, ALL the same time, if you fancy yourself as being an octopus to begin with :} ...
This kind of thing strikes me as designed for those with attention deficit disorder. I have to say the Steam overlay is really useful while playing TF2 and you're wanting to invite someone into your game, but I don't really see the appeal here.
I guess I'm just old and don't like anything running that isn't needed (performance/security/etc). :P

Theoretically, XFire has a browser. It is supposed to work with most games that they support with their 2.0 interface.
In actuality, XFire's browser tends to crash horribly, has difficulty loading google, and should be avoided at all costs :p
The Steam browser actually works pretty well, and I find it very useful when playing a TES-style game (can check to see if I can kill someone without breaking stuff :p).
