I read a good article recently about that. The author argued that some players are interested in skill... being best... and that hard skill levels are for them, but that he enjoyed the journey and the catharsis of defeating the enemy, so for him the easy setting gave him the best experience.

Frankly, I often enjoy the easy setting myself.

Gaming demons? Wow! I have a few:

- I have pirated games. Started on bit torrent and later upgraded to the more efficient Usenet. One of the first games I pirated was Free Space 2, which at that point, was selling on Amazon's marketplace for $99. Then, I was surfing Abandonia and clicked on link to get a game and it directed me HERE! Imagine my surprise when I found Free Space 2 selling for a cheesy $5.99.

- I spend so much time collecting games that I have little time to actually play them. I have hundreds of games that I've never played, yet I'm always in the market for something new.

- I have a curious interest in RPGs though I have never finished one. Matter of fact, Knights of the Old Republic is the one RPG that I've invested the most time in and I stopped playing after the escaping Taris.

- I can't remember the last time I purchased a new console game. I visit gamestop and glyde because I can't resist a good deal on used games; conversely, newly released games are completely unfamiliar with the term "sale." Some games are so popular, i.e., Call of Duty, that they retain their original retail price a year after it released.

- I love flight simulators. One of my favorite games from the DOS era was Falcon 3.0. I paid close to the original retail price to get Janes' F-18, Longbow Gold, and F-15. (GOG please get Aces over Europe, Aces of the Pacific and 1942 Pacific Air War)

- I will add any game that reviews well to my wishlist even if I'm not the a big fan of the genre. If a game has multiple titles in family, I will research them to see if I should also pursue them as well. That is why Age of Wonders and Heroes of Might and Magic games are on my wishlist here at GOG.

- Following the previous demon, I will ignore games that fall below a certain review score even if I'm a fan of genre - WEIRD, huh?

- I favor the PC version in any multi-platform release unless it was a console game FIRST! Also, in certain cases, If I have an older CD/DVD based game, I will also buy a digital version if an incredible Steam, D2D, Gamersgate or Impulse deal is offered.

I guess that is enough for now!

I cheat in single player games.

Especially RPGs that insist on me wasting hours of my time moving from one side of the continent to another.

I used to write short stories about the trials and tribulations of my NBA team in nba 2k2.

I prefer game soundtracks over all other genres of music.

I played and enjoyed Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.

I have never played more that 5 minutes of any Tomb Raider game.

Though I own the entire series, I have never played more than 3 levels of the Thief series.

I have played a game knowing I won't like it just to pad my "gaming resume" (Yeah I played that one!)

I actually enjoyed Battlecruiser 3000AD (and the soundtrack even more!)

I used to do that same thing news paper article style for my franchise in NFL 2K5. I never had off the field incidents though. Just straight reporting on the ebb and flow of the game, including big plays, statistics and questionable decisions in losses.

I have never ever beaten the game before.

Never. Yep, that's my cardinal sin as a gamer, I suppose.

I simply enjoy the thrilling of playing the game. I have several RPGs in my arsenal, yet I have never beaten them.

Of course mainly that was due to the fact that back then I lived in eastern europe and the stores simply did not sell the games

And of course since then I have bought all the games that I have pirated before over here and now I have a collection of over 90 games :)

I just really hope many other games can be on here in the future so I can attone for my sins of pirating here and buy them :)

I second this sin, my music collection is probably about 3/4 soundtracks 1/4 assorted everything else. My mobile that I listen to music on has mostly soundtracks on it (so that my life can have a soundtrack too!). Oh and Rhapsody too, they're awesome.

I highly recommend the fan made dialogue patch if you play it, it vastly improves the experience by fixing continuity errors (of which the game has many).

I used to use cheats with those games just to watch the endings (in my defense, I was 15-16 at the time).

A couple of others:
-I prefer Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 to the first one.
-I used to pirate the fuck out of games (I still do to an extent, but only previous generation console games).

I tended to just click through the dialogue. Unless I found of of those great ones that had a fun story too. The last one I remember playing was Bible Black, because, well, I like horror and I like porn, so why not mix the two? I ended up saying 'fuck it' and uninstalling after I followed a walkthrough to the letter to try and get a good end, and still got a bad end. I was fucking enraged.

When I was at high school, I was obsessed with finishing strategy games without losing any unit.
I did it with Starcraft and Civilization II. It took me... many time.
