Navagon: That definitely needed to be in there! Way more so than Doom 2. Which was a pretty unnecessary inclusion.

Don't be dissin' my double barrel shotgun.
Huge improvement on the original single barrel.

True. But while the weapon was good, Doom 2 still felt more like an expansion pack than an actual progression of the series.

Yeah, I'll agree. Doom 2 was just new maps and a double barrel shotgun.

And those people will then go to the site more often than not to post that disagreement, and enough of them stick around and check out other parts of the site to make it worthwhile...all of which is the reason they post the list in the first place.

So many FPS games on that list, yet no mention of UT99 (superior to Quake III, imho) or even Tribes. Tribes! The game that introduced us to epic 64 player CTF games over dial-up!
Ultima Online also needed it's own entry, though EverQuest gets all the glory.
I personally think something from the Worms series also should have gotten a showing. If you only had one computer, Worms was (and continues to be) THE hotseat party game.

The best thing about lists is how the writers almost always write "these are our favorites", et.c, to point out that their lists are subjective. And the users STILL accuse them of "forgetting" games. OMG! U forgot Theme Park! Ur list is CRAP!!!!!!!1!

Yes, I do. There are MUCH better games than Counter Strike and while it's a solid game, it's still just a bog standard shooter and by no means a top game of the 90s.
