I love my job!! As a security officer, working on the weekends is a given. Most people would see this as a horrible waste of time, but I see it as 16 hours to reacquaint myself with great classic games, or find some gems that I have never played before. But I have a problem. I have limited finances to spend on new games and I don't want to waste money on crappy games. That's where you come in. I need game recommendations. I am actually kind of new to pc gaming, but I love classic games. Tell me what is good.

Help me GOG community. Your my only hope!

I love RPG's, some shooters, not a big RTS fan and haven't really gotten into turn-based games, but I am willing to give anything a try!

Fallout 1 for RPG

Alone in the Dark 1
You should say some game genres you like, to start with... ;p
Yup, knowing what type of games you're interested in would help immensely.
Silent storm is a great tactical strategy game its kinda like xcom but with the physics and everything its just beyond fun.

Then theres Arcanum and planescape torment, fallout 1 and 2, neverwinter nights, icewind dale and so on i know many many more but i do not wish to bury you with games.
Heros of Might and Magic 3 complete. It's a great game and turn based and it's on sale right now. Perfect for work:)

I have heard a lot about HOMM 3, mainly how everyone loves it. I enjoy strategy, but I also get bored easily. Is it really slowly paced?

It is somewhat slow paced, in particular if you don't know what you are doing. One of the most common beginners mistakes in all of the HoMM games is that they turtle in their base, building up armies. What you should do is to go out and start grabbing resources from the get go, and not worry about facing neutral unit groups that are able to do some damage to your army, you need to kill them. But I would argue that Age of Wonders 1 is a lot better in this regard, it not only encourages you to play the "right" way, but it feels more fast paced in general.

Oh, and here are some recommendations in no particular order:
Legend of Grimrock, Jagged Alliance 2, Master of Magic, Planescape Torment, Divine Divinity, Beneath a Steel Sky, Age of Wonders 1, Might & Magic 4-5, Ultima 7, Ultima Underworld 2, Syberia, Nox, Sacrifice, Thief, Freespace 1 & 2, Gothic, To The Moon, King of Dragon Pass, The Blackwell Games, Geneforge, The Longest Journey, Myst

It is slow paced to begin with, but picks up as it goes along. If you get bored easy, then it might not be for you. Right now, it's 4 bucks. Not sure how you can go wrong with that. But my taste in games is a bit off from most others:)
Since you enjoy RPGs, you really should look into the current promotion that's going on: http://www.gog.com/divinity/

Aside from the 2D games having rather corny voice acting, they're excellent gems.
