cmdr_flashheart: Hm, I used to have a whole host of examples about how he's alive to this point because GRRM likes him, and he couldn't have survived otherwise. But as it has been almost three years since I read the series, I can't remember jack ^^ Or just barely.
But yeah, I like messy, insecure Tyrion, so I am not really a fan of how the character comes off in the show. It's whatever, though- the show doesn't need to religiously follow the books, plus the show writers should get to exercise their own interpretation/creativity as this is their adaptation.
Overall, it does make me glad to know that Tyrion might make it to the end of the series because of GRRM's bias; hey, nothing wrong with having a favourite character :p No jinxes/knocked wood!
Yeah, I would really be upset if GRRM kills off Tyrion. He is one of the best characters in the series. But yeah, there are tons of times when I was expecting him to die (first the capture in the Vale, then every ten minutes while he was in King's Landing, and then most recently
[BOOK SPOILERS!]
when he fell off the boat into the river and almost (might actually have it anyway?) got Greyscale. I mean, I feel like he and Dany are not necessarily going to get along. But I don't expect her to be any more likely to kill him than Cersei was--and he didn't die then. So....

But yeah, I think that he might make it to the end. He is definietly a "main" and important character. Though resigned to a background role in the overall plot of whatever happens with the "Fire" and "Ice" that will eventually converge (just as, I think, Bran is a background character, but will be extremely important).
