hey everybody, i've been way into disciples sacred lands, red alert, rpgs, and strategy games, i was wanting to expand my game collection, and was wanting to know some good games that would be around the category im into, thanks!
Almost every game on GOG is a good classic. Just read user reviews and you'll get more than enough info about each game to decide whther it is for you or not.
Unless you have some specific "a game like X" request, your best bet would be to go here, sort by bestselling, and go down the list, 'till you find something you fancy. It starts off fairly RPG-heavy but they're all classics, regardless ;)

If you like the RTS genre but want to try something a little bit different, take a look at Perimeter. It's not to everyone's taste, but it's unlike any other RTS I've played, and personally I loved it.

There are too many great RPGs here to list, but Fallout 1 + 2, Arcanum, Planescape: Torment, and the Baldur's Gate games are among the all-time classics. If you don't mind simplistic graphics, the Avernum series is a personal favourite. Divine Divinity is a great action-RPG, vaguely Diablo-ish but with way more open-world exploration.

Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing this game with us. I added it to my wishlist ,and I agree with Divine Divinity. The game is like a nice mix of Diablo and a huge open world to be explored.
Welcome to gog!!

No recommendations from me...
-Sacrifice
-Heroes of Might and Magic 1,2 and 3
-Eador: Genesis
-King of Dragon Pass
-Disciples 2

For a light blend of RPG and RTS, check out SpellForce 2. It reminds me of Warcraft III in a good way, but I feel that SpellForce goes on about its business with deliberate, self-aware cliché camp which sufficiently differentiates it from the very serious Warcraft. I admit that WCIII is a well-designed game and probably superior to SpellForce 2, but somehow I still find myself preferring SpellForce 2. Just avoid the first SpellForce; it's flawed to hell and back, and the mechanics are clunky like a bag of spanners flushed down a storm drain. The story of the original SpellForce is pretty irrelevant as well, so you won't really miss anything by skipping the game.

This. Exactly.
Light, fun strategy where you build the nation, and tell them what to do, then sit back and watch it all go haywire when the enemy invades!

S2-Gold. AWESOME music !! Get your road layouts RIGHT! Very important.
S2-10th Anniversary. Better graphics, Redesigned maps. Still worth a play.
S3.

In that order.

I'm on Amazon Expansion, "Others" mission 3 as we speak. It's pretty much the ONLY thing I've played or thought about the last two months. Buyers beware. :P

and the S2 music isn't bad but the animal sounds, AHHHHHH!!!!! Put a bullet in me! I wish there was a way I could turn those off without tuning out the other sounds.

Since you mentioned strategy games twice (red alert, strategy games) let me recommend you a pretty awesome game: Dark Reign. Don't bother with the sequel though.
