Don't you think that it will be a good idea if GOG will be placing game demos from titles from the catalogue? Of course those games are rather well known, but it is always better if you can try the product before buying, especially if you are young and did not have the opportunity to try that title.
I know that I can download the demo from game reviewing websites, but it will be easier if on the game subpage will be an option to download the demo.
Of course I am talking about demos to games that are running without Dosbox, eg. Ghost Master and Colin McRae Rally 2005.

Honestly, I think offering some kind of demo for any, if not all, of GOG's library is a really good idea. I know I would be more likely to buy games if I could try them first, especially since most are old games that I have already heard of, but haven't necessarily played.

If they could do it, it would be a great thing. Personally though, at the low cost of the games here, I have no qualms about just shelling out the few bucks and taking a chance on the game. I realize not everyone is in the same position, but for me a demo isn't really a necessity unless you're paying full game price (50+ dollars).

I don't think GOG would really need to host demo versions themselves, linking to them could work just fine. And people can already do that on the forums, I guess.

Having the demos linked near the Buy button would be far better service and usability than having to see a name, which you then have to search for, just to see if there is a demo.
But no, they don't have to host the demos themselves, instead making a deal with a couple of sites and then have a demo button (next to the Buy button) that pops up a list of hosts.

Since there are no demos I do a search on youtube for trailers and gameplay videos. Its not the same but I can get a better idea than looking at screenshots.

That's why there should only be links to demos compatible with Win XP/ Vista.
As some of you probably know, GOG is a CD Projekt project (Projekt - project, hehe, funny), so maybe they could place links to demos available for download from their official Polish website? Of course to those demos in English. Eg. I have found an English - language demo of Gothic 1 at their official site.

I've mentioned game demos on here before, and how I would love to see them. But there is the same question you must ask yourself (in some situations) is six dollars really that big of a risk? what if I only marginally like the game? would it not be with six bucks? I know there are many worth $9.99, but I think with the inclusions of demos there is a small chance that only games that are extremely wowsa would get sold for the six or nine dollar price tag, while games that were still good, won't get purchased as much.
Of course this is mere speculation and I may be incorrect, but you can't have a piggle-dee-wiggle-dee castle without cookin some bacon.
I mean, demos would be a fantastic idea, but I can see how they may not fly as well.

If they only included demos (either through hosting them or linking to them) for games that already work on XP or Vista, then there would only be a handful of demos available. Not really worth the effort, IMO. Better to have demos available for all or none (or at least most or none).

They can do time demos for all their games using a sort of launcher, I think.
(And link already existent demos for games that have one)

And they could include an option to link them to the purchase page for the game, whereupon they'll be given a code to unlock their trial version and install indefinitely the full version from their download page...

I don't really agree, the idea of having the full game in trial mode, downloaded for free and needing only a key to unlock would be a little too tempting for some.
I personally wouldn't bother downloading a seperate demo either, so I'm inlcined to say that demos on this sire would be sort of reduntant.
As someone above as stated, look at youtube, old reviews or fan sites for an idea about a game your unsure of, or gamble your £3/£6 and see what it brings you. I'm in no way made of money, actually quite the opposite but do think the prices are very reasonable here and even buying a game you try and dont get on with is still worth what they charge.
