Hello, first of all, excuse me if my english is a bit poor, I try my best! :)

Now, onto the topic:

There are good games, not so good games, and bad games. But sometimes, no matter if the game is technically flawless or an utter mess, it hits all the right strings with you, or pops up at a very special time in your life, and so it ends up becoming a memorable experience in your life, or as I like to say it, you 'fall in love' with said game.

Now, as the title suggest, the idea is to post the game or games (of any system or year) that you hold 'dearest to your heart'. Not necesarily the game you think deserves the title of 'best game ever', but that game that marked a before and an after in your life.

If you want to add a 'why I love this game' sentence it would be great! :)

Has its issues, but playing league with friends rocks.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

I was never an RPG fan, until I played this that is. First played it at a friends house and it was love at first sight. Buggy as hell, but what a ride.

because its totally mallable and the modders have turned it in to a thing of beauty

daytona usa
untill the psn version rolled along in 2011 there was no better way to play daytona usa then on the saturn

neither the latets nor the greatest but one of the best beat em ups any system ever has to offer for me

Dungeon Keeper 1. One of the very first non edutainment games I got for PC and I fell in love with it. It was a combination of the humour used, the gameplay idea (playing as the bad guy?), and the general fun and strategy/planning involved.

It either was a fun game to me, thus it stayed installed; or it stayed installed and through all my playthroughs of it I grew to like it even more. I was really disappointed when, after almost ten years of having it, it stopped working (the disc failed first, so I copied to a pen drive, then after a time it stopped working on the pen drive as well). I knew of GOG probably when it started up, but I only paid signed up in 2013 for whatever reason. One sale later, I had a working copy of Dungeon Keeper once again :)

Oblivion.
The first game I played after I got my first true gaming PC, in 2009.
Open world, freedom, soo many NPCs, dungeons, books, notes... and since I didn't have a gaming PC before, even the dated-in-2009 graphics enchanted me. Best I've seen so far, and it was running smoothly on medium settings! A whole new world of gaming opened up for me.
People say it's the weakest Elder Scrolls game, but I will always hold it dear :)

Dearest to my heart? Damn, that changes on yearly basis. I suppose it would be the new Tomb Raider and Transistor right about now. *Obligatory Fenixp's response to any mention of an Elder Scrolls game follows*
I kind of love Elder Scrolls games. All of them, including Oblivion. I always felt that they all have their own advantages - Morrowind for the outlandish and generally weird world, Oblivion for amazing quest design and Skyrim for the absolutely ridiculous amount of stuff to discover.

Dearest to my heart - The Operative: No One Lives Forever on PC. My Dad gave it to me as a Christmas gift. He didn't know anything about PC games, or what types of games I liked, but he just had a good feeling that I would like it.

It was what ignited my love for first-person shooters. I had played others before, but this was the first one that I really loved. It was also the biggest factor in turning me from a console player into PC player.

The game was (and still is) just plain awesome and hilarious. Being able to sneak up on guards and listen to their conversations was so fun and thrilling. All the characters are unique and interesting. The gadgets are funny and fun to use. The weapons look, sound, and feel great. And I always loved the fact that you could choose your weapons, mods, and equipment before each mission. And the missions were so diverse - They took place in so many different locations and environments.

The game was (and still is) a great experience.

Operation: inner space - Space fights, dog fights, loose plot, adaptive AI, good fun.... and races.

Ring Runner - unrelated successor to inner space. Much newer and better than Operation Inner Space.

Megaman (NES 2-6) & Megaman X - Being a robot, platforming, music and... ummm...

Questron - Some call it an Ultima clone, which i'm sure it is. But on the Atari800XL, it was still good fun.

Joust, Defender, Star Raiders (Atari) - I was 13 or so.... Atari800....

Diablo 2 Zy-El Mod - Everything you love about Diablo x100, and a little harder to start off.

Morrowind - Need i say more?

Curious as i think about the list, and these are probably it. There's a lot of other really good games i can name that are fun, long, well made, action oriented, sunk a hundred plus hours into, etc. But i can't call them dearest to my heart.

Level 4 is one of my favourites. Gems, gems everywhere -- endless money to train up all my little creatures :D I generally give some time over to training the imps as they learn some new skills as they level up (level 3 allows them to speed themselves up, level 10 allows them to teleport around).

Cool! I'm still really new too it but trying to take it slow I don't have 2 to follow up on it so I don't want to beat this one too fast lol. A truly fun game.
I know it's messed up but I love to smack them! Work harder slaves!

NOLF 1 & 2 are truly awesome. I dream of a day they will show up on GOG. Insta-buy if they ever do.

For me, dearest to my heart will have to be the Baldur's Gate series. I didn't really know anything about it when I bought it*, but the developers were in Edmonton, and I lived near Edmonton. You have to support the local guys, right? I loved it immediately, and 15 years later, I still play it somewhat regularely.


* I'm not sure exactly when I bought BG - shortly after release - I seem to recall buying it the day after Chirstmas.

The Binding of Isaac: easily the best spent money ever, countless hours of playtime and fun ^^ (pity I don't have Rebirth yet :( )

Portal: The humour, the puzzles, the secrets... ohmygod ^^

Wacky Races: The NES platformer, that is - it is my pre-PC childhood essentially. Played it so many times I almost could do a decent speedrun.

Croc - Legend of Gobbos: My PC childhood. Favourite 3D platformer.

Command Keen series: The second DOS game I ever played was Marooned on Mars, and I'm in love with these games ever since. Still hoping for a comeback sometime in the future. Like DuckTales Remastered. But with CK :D
