Yeah, so do we all... It's been requested a zillion times and I doubt it's much more than 5 minutes of editing the web page code and hasn't happened yet so my assumption at least is that they intentionally do not want a game counter on the page for some reason as of yet unknown. Hard to say. I believe there is a wishlist item for it though so anyone who wants to see it should at least search for it there and add their vote. Perhaps they'll do that in the upcoming website update later this year.

On Steam: 11 games (including their respective add-ons), of whom 2 I got for free, 1 as a gift and 2 as giveaway prizes (on GOG's forum).
I bought 8 games on GamersGate, plus 1 I got for free.
Just 2 on Origin, both free.
Very few games on physical support; the majority of them were bought by my brother years ago.
I'm not counting the free games downloaded here and there from the Internet. That's a lot of stuff...

Yep, it only shows up when games are updated. I'm not completely certain but I think all Barefoot Essentials does is tweak the code on the page to show it always instead of just when games are updated. That implies that GOG intentionally set it to only show when games are updated rather than as a glitch per se. The question then is why, since it is so convenenient to see it all the time instead of just occasionally. Don't have an answer for that though I'm afraid. Perhaps the process of tallying up the games in javascript client side (presuming that's what it does) might run slow on some computers or devices so they disable it by default? I dunno but it is less than optimal. I'd rather see the server - which already knows the games you have - just send a static total game count and have zero client side processing if possible. I'm making a lot of assumptions about how it works based on how it appears to work from using it though rather than from studying the page source, so I may not be 100% correct.

Being constantly reminded that you own triple digits of games could drive you insane. You should thank GOG for having to make you jump through hoops to uncover the true number. That way, GOG can smugly say "See, I told you so!"

On GOG I only have 40 including the free games, but I only buy games that I'm actually interested in playing.

Some of the free games are awesome, as a point and click adventure fan I highly recommend Beneath A Steel Sky, Flight of the Amazon Queen and . [url=http://www.gog.com/game/lure_of_the_temptress]Lure of the Temptress is a nice game, you can see the Revolution unmistakable brand of storytelling in there already, but it suffers from some game play flaws, so, it's hard for me to fully recommend it.

If point and clicks are not your thing, at least give Tyrian 2000 and/or Ultima IV a try.
