Can anyone help me with game controllers that work with GOG PC games?

Actually not many of them support controller out of the box, especially with 360 controller. Because most of them are old games, so they don't recongnize X -Input. You'll not able to use the triggers and right analog stick on 360, unless if you mapped it using x-padder. I guess a cheap generic USB controller is enough for old games.

Well, my fingers can't take much more from pounding on the keyboard, in fact can't get very far with many of the games I have purchased at GOG due to finger fatigue. Any particular generic that's better than others?

i can't imagine playing rayman forever on a keyboard. I'm halfway through the game and my gamepad buttons started to wear out.
I don't use gamepads, but I would imagine you'll want one with a properly good D-pad. That's the XBox 360 pad out, then.
So is it only Logitech or others? How about Snakebyte?
Logitech do 3 gamepads pretty cheap the F310 (wired, no vibration),F510 (wired, vibration),F710 (wireless, vibration) they all have a switch to go between the old direct-input for old games to work and x-input for new games to work (as an Xbox 360 controller). Ive had a F710 for months now and its been fine. The buttons do click and the triggers are a bit stiff. I haven't problems with dead zones or the wireless dropping out but looking at reviews it seems some people have had a few problems, bit of a hit and miss if you get one that works. You could aways get a wired Xbox 360 controller and use a program to map the keys outside of the game.
Thanks, all. Very helpful.
Got the F510 but it won't install in Win 8 even after installing Win 7 drivers. Many complaints about this at Logitech so I guess it will just have to wait. Anyone know of a work around in Win 8?

Don't use it until it's actually released? And if you do, don't complain that the drivers for one OS don't work on another, as yet unreleased OS. That's the best workaround I can think of.

I use xpadder when I need that functionality. You can map the buttons to whatever keys you want and it seems to do a good enough job.
