This is something that I have been thinking about for a long time on and off and felt I'd share it.

When playing certain games for prolonged periods of time, I notice my self subconsciously noticing things in the real world.

For example:

After playing Deus Ex, I found my self scanning the world for keypads.

After Playing Mirror's edge I was looking for places to climb on,

And after GTA I kept noticing parked super cars.

Do other people have examples of this?


I also have this with books, where I start thinking using the syntax and style of the book, which is noticeable with Hunter S Thompson, and especially after clockwork orange. So it may just be the way I am.

After playing Minecraft for a few months, I kept thinking I was seeing creepers during dark nights.

Hmmmm - no, I don't think this has happened to me. I would hazard a guess that anyone who has hightened senses would be spooked for a while after playing a horror survival game.

I sometimes feel like I should load an earlier save, after I mess up something or make a wrong choice. Then I realize I'm not playing a game.. It sucks. And I'm not joking, it's not a feeling I get often but it does happen.

Hmmm... you should play Leisure Suit Larry.

I've mentioned this before and I know I'm not the only one this happens to. It's actually two things coming from one game. When I go to bed I will sometimes dream in Tetris. When I'm awake and out walking around I will look at the skyline in Tetris, thinking to myself "Flip that building, put it over there, drop that into there, move that over there, put that on it's side and drop it on top...."

I played Guild Wars 2 for several months, and then I started trying to hit the screenshot key IRL when I saw something beautiful while out and about.

Double post sorry, but this is actually kind of serious.
The other day after a couple hours of playing Carmageddon I decided to take a drive and this happened:

You live in the Philippines right? > Are you sure it isn't the glow of lava?

Nah, I live nowhere near volcanoes.

It just happened that after playing I went to a building painted with a light color, then just like in the game, some things painted red just seemed to "pop out".

I had that, only with Candy Crush Saga and re-arranging the multi-coloured space invaders on my friend's t-shirt!

I have also often found my inner monolog narrating my in the style of whatever author I'm reading on several occasions!

When I was a kid, before I would enter a car I had to walk around it like Sonny Bonds in Police Quest.
