EDIT: You also said you liked Snatcher, which was an adventure. Some of the levels have adventure elements. The game was made by Tim Schafer, the guy who made Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, and Day of the Tentacle.

Never played Snatcher. I've heard great things about it and I'm a big fan of Kojima.

I really can't successfully parse the original post, but guessing from context I would say my suggestion would be Fallout. It was a groundbreaker and I am yet to find any other RPG that truly captures the freedom to approach problems my way as this and its sequel.
