Damn it, you beat me to it.

Great news regardless. Well, except for the Steam-only part. <_<

Good news on GalCiv III being in the works, and with multi-player to boot; but, not so enthused with the pre-buy and help development model that's been making the rounds and :-( DRM. Not that I don't use Steam myself, but would much prefer it come here DRM-free.

That has always been part of Stardock. Even with the very first GalCiv for OS/2 back in 1993.

Same here. For GalCiv though, I'll make an exception. It's my favourite game-series.
Shit, that means I don't have much time to stop getting my ass kicked at #2. :P
Cool thing about this particular series is it really isn't that terrible being bad at it. It doesn't help mind you but it doesn't render the game unplayable or any less enjoyable.
Nice! Looking forward to it :)
Limiting the game to 64-bit systems, Paxton promises, will have several benefits. “64-bit is huge for us, because even though games may support running on 64-bit computers, as long as that game supports 32-bit players as well, you have to design to your lowest constraint. This technology allows players to experience a level of graphical detail and on-screen activity unprecedented in large-scale strategy PC games. It dramatically increases the size and scope of the maps, and opens the door for modders to add a virtually unlimited amount of new content to the game.”
Ouch. That's tough but it's good someone is trying to phase out 32-bit and actually take advantage of it.
Good news. :)

I like this decision a lot. GalCiv 2 had huge trouble with the 2GB barrier already, they had to optimize and rewrite and even cut down galaxy sizes to fit the game into 32-bit systems.
This is wonderful news!
Woot! Thanks for the news!:)
Good news indeed.
Awesome! I thought SoaSE was the successor to GalCiv.
I liked the 2nd part a lot and I would really be looking forward to this game, but I can not stand Brad Wardell after "Gamer's Bill of Rights" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamers_Bill_of_Rights) PR-stunt. 4 tears after signing this "pact" Brad's company goes hand in hand with Steam that breaks at least half of the points from the list.

I am sorry for the rant but I disregard hypocrites.

Different developer, hugely different gameplay.

I know about the gameplay, I have them both. But Stardock and Ironclad are very closely related.
