JMich: Does this mean 4 digits correct and in correct position, and 12 digits correct but in wrong position?
I wasn't sure if I'd let you figure that out on your own as well or not, but I guess it would be a little too harsh.

R(ed) - Proper position and character, W(hite) - Proper character wrong position and B(lack) - Wrong position and character.
As for 'double/triple/...' characters, if one is on the right position and the other ain't, then it counts as one R one W.

Hehe, starting to play a little smarter and strategic, I see!
Here's what you got out of it:
2*W,14*B

I told you I was terrible at mastermind. :)

I really wish it did! Sadly, though, the situation is considerably worse than that.

Fujek: Let's see how long it takes (and if TET bans us for spamming ;))
Let me get this straight: if with 4 pegs and 6 colours there are 6^4 = 1296 possible combinations... with 16 'pegs' (characters) and 24+8 'colours' (letters excluding 'I' and 'O', numbers excluding '1' and '0') that's... 32^16 = 1.2089*10^24 combinations...

Yeah, alright, good luck with that, Adam. :-P

Edit: What about using AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA, BBBB-BBBB-BBBB-BBBB, etc, to at least know how many 'whites' (how many of each character) there's in total?

Heh, well, I already HAVE the game. Really it's good luck to all of you!

Thought about doing that. Since it is obviously going to take awhile, I might as well do it so we get all the characters and then worry about order.

That would be a smart strategy (there are a few better approaches, but that one is better than nothing ;))
Btw. there are articles on Mastermind that proved one needs less than 5 guesses on the original game to break any possible code ;)
It'd be considerably more because of the additional characters and slots, but hey, I have confidence in adambisers luck and skill!

Fujek:
OK, new approach. The previous guesses were just a warm up. Let's get this thing started.
Actually, I don't think you need to tell me the B's. Just say 0 R, 4 W or R 0, W 4 and that'll be enough I think.

AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA

In order to give you a little advantage and save the typing:
1*2
1*4
1*7
1*8
1*9
3*G
1*K
1*N
1*T
2*U
1*W
2*Y

Fujek:
That certainly helps so it doesn't get drawn out. Now to find the positions...

I'm not Fujek (who seems to have gone off-line, by the way ;-P ) but I can say with 100% certainty that those codes are not 100% correct. ;-P

Thank you for this, even though I already have Outcast. Reason I was asking is because in the variation I know the possible answers are White, Black, Empty, while in this one it seems to be Red, White and Black.
Interesting idea, let's see how it evolves.

Well, the rules for this are here
I have to make the official guesses, but you are all welcome to try things out by redeeming gift codes. However, I don't think we're anywhere even remotely close to knowing the code. I have to start figuring out some positions and that'll help you all out.

As YogSo says, Fujek's offline now, so we'll have to wait and see if any of the letters in my guess are correct.
