That one took me about an hour (fortunately, I'm not being paid :p), which mainly consisted out of searching the internet for a free on-line music tool that stores the result (and thus saves you the risk of downloading random files from the internet).

Heh, no neither, I've got LBA on retail, I won plenty over Xmas anyway and I'm clueless about music - just saying its cool that you've being so inventive about your riddles!

I sent you a little hint, or rather explanation through private message. Since you're kind of not competing, this should allow you the kick of solving the puzzle.

Was GOG's 50% offer good enough that everybody already owns it, or is the game perceived as not worth a few minutes of your time to figure out a rather simple puzzle?

In retrospective, would you consider it tricky, considering there was a visual representation of the notes playing (and even more important of the available ones)?

People posting these code breaking challenges always underestimate how difficult it can be to solve them. (I think xyem once posted a code that he expected to be broken in minutes, but it took several weeks and hints.) What seems obvious to you is not obvious at all to others, and the possibilities are endless. It's much easier to break a pot than to reassemble it, if you know what I mean.

Well, kind of. I havent seen this pattern of black keys till I noted them down. Even then (I do not know why?) I tried to find the way to match letters+digits to full three octaves - but there are only two and a half of them on the keys :) And that was my primary error.

If you don't know music it is hard. Plus aren't most musical keys form like a-f(or G-ish)? How would one fit a game code into such a limited letter range? I guess you could luck out and get a code that uses only those letters but c'mon.

To tell the truth you haven't needed any music knowledge to solve this last puzzle. :)
