Hello all,

I'd like to gift someone a copy of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.

It is my favorite game series of all time. Back in 1993 adventure games were riding high, but the LucasArts and Sierra games (among other adventures) generally focused on humor, fantasy, etc. (and I loved those games, too). GK:SotF was one of the first games aimed at adult, mature storytelling. The gothic atmosphere, the deep character development, the moody New Orleans backdrop, etc. all resonated strongly with me when I was a teen (I actually didn't play it until 1997). I was totally blown away, and playing GK for the first time is honestly one of the fondest memories of my childhood.

GK creator/designer Jane Jensen has a new game, Moebius, coming out next year, along with "Mystery Game X", rumored to be a GK remake but not confirmed to be so. Either way I'd like to bring a new Schattenjager ("Shadow Hunter") on board.

I do ask the following of contest entrants:

- You have not played the GK games before
- If you win, you will play the game and not add it to a super long backlog to gather e-dust on your GOG shelf.

To enter, just post in this thread and include the following text in your post:

"St. George, patron of the light,
who hunts the shadows of the night,
upon my blood, I call thee now,
purify me, for I avow
to set my feet upon thy road,
thy sword I take up for mine own."

I'll let this run until the last day of the promo, then post the winner here. Winner will be chosen randomly with random.org. Good luck! And if you're interested but don't win, I still encourage you to pick up the game (or entire GK trilogy). You won't regret it.

edit - just to clarify the contest will close with about 12 hours left on the promo, just in case someone who doesn't win still needs time to decide whether to buy the game or not.

-------------------------------------------

Contest is now closed. Congratulations to dudetterinazor for winning.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway :) I'd really like to try out the Gabriel Knight games.

Think I'll just buy the trilogy instead, so I don't risk 'losing' it. Was thinking those 3 games, plus Arcanum and possibly one more. Gabriel Knight looks very good, so I want that one.

I have never played this games. I really want to give them a try. I thought hard about getting it but I am apprehensive. If I do win, I will play it quite a lot.
mondo84,

I actually bought GK1 just a few moments ago. It will be my very first play through of this game and probably will be one of the oldest adventure games I play. I'm planning to do this at night as well to add a but of atmosphere.

Is that text you included at the bottom from the game? It's intriguing.

Cheers mate!
I'll give it a shot. Actually, I've never played Gabriel Knight, and it always appear in some way when looking for a new adventure game to play, but I keep going back to play games from LucasArts or similar, or other adventure styles... so, let's see what my luck says this time :P

Everyone's been telling me I need to play GK for about a decade now, but I've been putting it off because I'd heard some horror stories about nonsense puzzles and car driving shenanigans. Was I right to be afraid, or are those things worthy of worrying about?
Thank you for the giveaway! :)

The text is from the game, but I won't reveal the context. ;)

You will love GK1! But make sure to "look" at everything, exhaust dialog topics, and save frequently. Don't be ashamed if you get stuck and have to consult a walkthrough, but use it sparingly.

Enjoy!
I'm really wanting to get this being a big fan of Point and Click games. I'll probably end up picking these up this weekend, but if I can get one for free to lighten the load on my wallet then that would be nice.

loved that game when I was very young! not entering.

As mentioned by mondo84, it deserves to be played :)

I'm thinking about buying the trilogy on GOG since I can't find some original cd's
