Pemptus: I remember it being pretty mediocre in its first season or so, but it got progressively better, imho. Stick with it, I say.
Same with most satire series, really. Simpsons & South Park also had boring first seasons.

Need a new show to watch?
...
Why not Zoidberg?
For the record, I've watched a few more episodes (random ones... whatever my fiancee happened to be on when we decided to watch TV together), and I do like it a lot more now. Still not one of my favorites, but it's generally pretty enjoyable. And Zoidberg is pretty awesome.

Also, "good news everyone!"

Well, it's not as wide of an audience as the Simpsons, so that's not entirely unexpected. I think in some ways I like it the more episodes I see.

Which reminds me, I don't think I've seen any of the new episodes after a Clockwork Origins, or whatever the last one they showed during that spurt.

jefequeso: Ok, so a few days ago I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and watched the Futurama pilot. Not impressed. But then again, many good shows have terrible pilots. So my question is, what are the best episodes to watch as an "introduction" to the show? Or is the pilot basically what the entire show is like?
I would just watch the show in order as it builds on itself and you will catch more injokes and callbacks. But I am a fan of Godfellas personally.
Yeah, it's much more continuity-centric than the Simpsons, so it's best to just watch it straight through. Incidentally, I actually like it more than the Simpsons. It's not as consistently funny, but it always felt a bit more nuanced to me.
Roswell that ends well

Has to be one of the best episodes for me anyway. I always enjoyed futurama it always brought a smile to my face.
I don't really like Futurama. I've seen around 20 episodes, maybe? The only one I found remotely funny was the one parodying Willy Wonka's chocolate factory...
I've only watched the original first 4 (production) seasons. IMO, the best episodes are:

10. Roswell That Ends Well
9. I, Roommate
8. Brannigan, Begin Again
7. The Farnsworth Parabox
6. Jurassic Bark
5. Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles
4. Amazon Women in the Mood
3. The Sting
2. The Luck of the Fryrish
1. Godfellas
I've watched all the episodes and all the movies :D

and it's true that the beginning isn't the strongest.

but as with most series, once you get to know and love the characters, you'll totally adore the whole series. in fact, an episode from season 6, that is after the ressurection of the series, is in my opinion the best episode ever (The Late Philip J. Fry)... that episode is huge!

and what's a big big "+" for me is the humor... it is really great, not as stupidly redneck as in Simpsons (awaiting attack! :o) in short, the things that wouldn't be "allowed" in "for family" Simpsons can easily be used in Futurama which is always funnier.

Sometimes you have to watch an episode a couple of times to catch all the jokes.

"And it's a quantum finish!"

"No fair! They changed the outcome by measuring it!"

The inside of Bender's skull has a distinct "Intel 4004" printed on it in one episode.

Stuff like that.

Furturama is uniquely clever, i.e. not the only clever show, but unique in the way in which it chooses to be clever.
