Syme: Asian girl - check.
Tattoos and exposed midriff - check.
Katana - check
It doesn't look very interesting to me, but since the purpose of the video was to impress with its coolness, that's not surprising. It may be interesting once they begin talking about the actual game.

The trailer actually shows nothing, it's more of an idea of the game world, rather than any indication of what the game is going to be like. (Like all non-gameplay trailers!)
mmo's are made of nothing but fail

Well, it helped me, but not Funcom. :)

chautemoc: Summarized: MMO in modern day setting, no levels/classes, lots of freedom.

Sounds like The Sims: The MMO ;-p
Well, the trailer looks cool, but as others have mentioned, it's a trailer! It's not ingame footage. If this was a single player game, I'd be extremely interested. As an MMO, it's an instant writeoff for me.

Oh great! Asian teenagers with katanas, and friggin' Van Helsing! Oh yes, this is innovation! WTG Funcom! Dumbasses...

There's a reason The Sims Online/EA World didn't do very well :-P
Second Life apparently is quite big, but that's more of a huge 3D chat where you can do pretty much whatever you want... not so much a game.

I know. I actually have a Second Life account. I must have spent upwards of, oh, an hour in there ;-)
Basically, it's like every other virtual world I've ever tried. It wants so badly to be cool, but the technology to make it cool just isn't there yet. In 20 years, maybe.

It was fun when I heard the US tax office wanted to tax in-game income (since you can exchange real money to game money and back, you can earn money on what you sell in Second Life), wonder how that went by the way.
NNNNNNNNNECRO... but for a good reason.

An open beta is on this weekend so everyone who wants to can try out the Templar starting area.. keys can be either
1) Won through the secret war facebook game (warning it's super spammy)
2) claimed from Gamespot
It does indeed look cool and I got into the beta. However, I'm reluctant to try it at all because it's apparently going to have a boxed price, subscription fee, and a cash shop. :/

Yeah theres a fee and boxed price but the shop is supposedly only for vanity clothing items since most things don't actually effect your char.
Even so, just the fact that there's a cash shop along with the subscription is grating to me. I have no desire to ever pay subscriptions for MMOs anyway, I figure if I'm paying 15 bucks a month I could just get a new game every four months (or one or two GOGs a month) instead of just playing the same game over and over. I'll probably check out the beta anyway though.
So is anyone playing this?
I realised that I still have it installed since the open beta weekend (though didn't have time to play it).
I played for a few minutes in beta, looked good, I just couldnt get used to pressing a number button to fire a gun, it just felt weird so I just uninstalled it after about 20 minutes.

I like the whole idea behind the game though.
There's apparently a free trial available this weekend. I've not tried it, but might check it out
