Ok - here goes:

I is is obvious that all Asians are bad gamers, they have to short fingers.
You probably should have just gone in and asked for a replacement because of it. If your Gamestop was anything like the one near me, they would have done it an apologized profusely for it. They are always really good to me. Its okay if you don't like Gamestop, but I think you should have given them the opportunity to make it right before making up your mind.

Personally I like Gamestop, but its not like there are any good alternatives to it that I can compare it to. The only other places to buy games locally are either really crummy game stores, or department stores, and they are not good for games. Buying online is an option, but I have had to send too many games back that way because they arrived damaged.
If is illegal to open gameboxes and then sell the game as new then gamestop has been breaking the law in the past as well.

I mean , resently gamestop opened deus ex human revolution boxes to take a promotional offer from a "competitor" in the boxes.

Also, I think they charged me as new when I got a game that was on the shelf which understood they opened to not have the game in the box on the shelf but that still should have had some kind of discounted used price or something. (i may have misremembered this incident though)

Roman5: Wait a second...so it's ok now to make threads with swearwords in the title?
It's okay when the title also includes Gamestop, GFWL and / or Ubisoft.

EB games used to give discounts for that, but I think they even stopped doing it before Gamestop bought them out.

I don't think its illegal for them to do it. Gamestop isn't the only store that does that. I frequently come across open packages for things at Walmart for example, and they don't give discounts on them. I asked ;) They don't take them off the shelves either. If you have a problem, you can always take it back. If they don't let you take it back, then there may be a law or something to help you out. Assuming you kept your receipt that is.

Sogi-Ya: typically I wouldn't title a thread like this, but given the situation ....
Well, I just hope it won't become a new "trend"...

This, unless you live really far away or something just ask, hell, ask by phone and take down the name of the manager that okayed it. The few times I've asked for swaps they've politely said "sure" and I went in, they had it behind the counter waiting for me.

Sogi-Ya: I just bought a 3DS + per-ordered Tales of the Abyss 3D (it's a valentines day present since the game comes out on the 14th).

the god damned seal on the 3DS box had been slit with a razor blade and then another seal had been applied on top of the old ones to make it look like the box hadn't been opened.

I checked inside and while the charger/base looking thing had obviously been handled, the rest of it didn't seem disturbed so I'm just gonna keep it instead of demand a fresh unit with factory seals in place ... but fuck this bull shit!

opening games is one thing, but cracking the seals on hardware boxes is s whole 'nother level of fraud.
This shit pisses me off, but GameStop continues to this day to open games and sell them as brand new. I haven't shopped their since 2009 when I caught onto this practice of theirs. I wrote in my blog on Gamespot.com about my adventures with GameStop's shittiness which at least helped with some of my nerd rage at the time.

Far as I'm aware opening product packages isn't illegal and many high-value items will be opened before sale. Staff might well have taken the unit out of the box to show to a potential customer, who then decided against the purchase. The seal being replaced simply as a matter of course.

The box might also have been opened as a stock check - the shop checking that stock was correctly packaged (maybe they'd had a report from a customer of missing contents and thus checked their latest batch on order).

Provided that the content is all secure and in place and any registration cards/coupons have not been used you shouldn't have any problems at all - though of course you've the right to return and request a replacement unit.

I think swear words like 'Gamestop' are fine as long as you use it in a civil manner.

Any particular reason why you won't take it back? I'd take it back and get one that has not been opened with. Much better to take it back and feel like you didn't get ripped off, than to not take it back and feel ripped off.

Nothing wrong with a little negativity. With so many positive and nice people on this site, I don't see threads like this as some kind of tarnish or cancer on the community. We all need to vent sometimes.
