I just bought a 3DS + per-ordered Tales of the Abyss 3D (it's a valentines day present since the game comes out on the 14th).

the god damned seal on the 3DS box had been slit with a razor blade and then another seal had been applied on top of the old ones to make it look like the box hadn't been opened.

I checked inside and while the charger/base looking thing had obviously been handled, the rest of it didn't seem disturbed so I'm just gonna keep it instead of demand a fresh unit with factory seals in place ... but fuck this bull shit!

opening games is one thing, but cracking the seals on hardware boxes is s whole 'nother level of fraud.
as far as I know this is illegal and you have the rights to sue Gamestop

Yeah, a lawsuit might be feasible, basically you can call it tampering of consumer products. Thankfully you still had everything in there that you needed.
It's just a bastard that you don't want to screw up your generous gift by taking on Gamestop. They deserve a slap, by all accounts.
Wait a second...so it's ok now to make threads with swearwords in the title?

*shrug* I just did it and it let me ... normally I would only shop from GS when it comes to digging through their bargain bins for PS1/2 titles that I'm collecting (like wild arms and the Armored core series), but in this case their price for the unit is about $20-$60 cheaper than any of the other local stores and I need the thing before Tuesday so online was out.

the main gift is the game (her favorate one) but the game is kinda worthless without the thing to play it on, so I'm just gonna deal with it ... if it was the system she wanted more than the game I'd have raised all kinds of hell.

I think it was always possible just people didn't use it to behave nice while being on GOG... :P
Figures. This does not surprise, I wouldn't buy new games from them :/

It is one thing to gut the game, but it is another thing to pretend that you didn't and to sell the game as such. This is a new low for them >:(

Honestly, a lawsuit really isn't worth it, at most the damages would be the worth of the 3DS and an Attorney that's any good would cost the price that you could buy several new 3DSes. Might want to try calling Corporate and complain or try to get a Refund and buy the system from somewhere else.

typically I wouldn't title a thread like this, but given the situation ....
There were swearwords in the title?

*munches on sammich*
"shameful display of profanities"

LOL . . . You can post anything you want . . . GOG will turn a blind eye, count on it. Even questionable images are acceptable up to around twenty or so . . . =)

Ever since halo 3, I've noticed that gamestop might mess with your game cases. My Skyrim case seems like someone put pressure on the top right corner of the case until it caved in. Another thing that happened on another game was that the bottom of a game's case is shattered.

Technically I can't put blame on anyone. There might have been shipping issues or something like that. The thing is, selling games with broken cases just doesn't give good first impressions. It's not fun when you get your game that you have been waiting months for and the case is in pieces. The first thing that came to my mind was whether the disk was fucked up by whatever happened.

Back to the topic, I agree with everyone else in this thread; This is messed up practice by Gamestop. Hope you get it fixed :)

Are all the points/coins cards there? There should be one for the system, and probably one for the game. Even if you don't want the points, you should complain on principle if they're missing.
