Damuna: It's not his fault he's Danish. ;)
Did someone call?

It's a bit premature talking about how "the game" looks dull, since this is not the game, it's a tech demo of the world the game is set in.

Personally, I'd be happy just playing around with the tech demo. Talk about a sandbox! It'll be interesting to see what the game itself is about, but it certainly looks promising.

Then of course, there's the Ubisoft thing. Well, it'll be really easy for me. UbiDRM = no sale, so I'll just have to wait and see what they put on it.
Wow, only just saw this. As someone who has spent hours and hours channelling water on beaches, I'm looking forward to this.

There's some interview on YouTube where they say it's coming to Steam, so I think like a few recent Ubi titles, it'll be just Steam.
I guess I must be the only one here who really doesn't have a problem with UbiSoft's DRM anymore. I played through almost 40 or so hours of AC2 and had it pause my game perhaps 3 or 4 times total.

You are a lucky person with a reliable internet connection. Besides, most people I think hate the idea of it regardless of whether it actually affects them personally. I object to it on principle.

Actually no, when I played it I had an exceptionally unreliable net connection that would lose its signal several times a day for a whole host of reasons (including changing weather patterns).

As for principles, if you object to Ubi's DRM I sure hope you're not using Steam.

Nope!

EDIT: Well, I have a steam account, but I've never given them a penny. I just have my Humble Indie Bundle games on there and Portal from back when they weren't charging for it.

Cool. Too many people go on about how UbiDRM is terrible and yet use Steam likes it the best thing ever without ever thinking about how similar those two really are (and in some cases how much worse Steam can be).

ok, I haven't been able to keep up with Steams DRM, and a quick google-search left me with a whole lot more questions then answers. What is steams DRM really about these days. I've bought a SHITLOAD of games from steam, so i would really appreciate it if someone would shed some light on this.

Oh yes, while having an offline mode, it's far worse to have all your games on one account. And the offline mode still has problems. D;

The DRM is the steam client itself. More specifically, it's the fact that you have to log in to play your games and any backups you make are basically just to save bandwidth. They still have to be reinstalled through the client and to do that you have to connect to their servers.

Oh, and when you buy a game from steam you're not actually buying a license. You're buying a 'lifetime subscription to a service'. That is, the service could end at any point and they have no obligation to continue it indefinitely.

EDIT: Just to contrast with GOG, the installers don't need to connect to GOG's servers and you can safely back them up as much as you want. If the large hadron collider was to cause a massive black hold that swallowed up the whole of central Europe including Poland, all your GOG games will carry on working. The same could not be said for Steam were Valve's headquarters swallowed by a black hole.

I just got an itch and the only cure is more Populus!
Thought I may as well ressurect this thread to post a link to a new previewon X360A. I must say I'm rather looking forward to it after reading that, I forsee a lot of fun drowning innocent people because I'm feeling insecure or randomly malicious & bloodthirsty. It really IS a god game

You would.

Rohan15: You would.
Are you implying that I'm some sort of psychotic, antisocial, self hating, misanthropic lunatic who can only find succour in the extended torture and murder of innocent people?

You know me FAR too well for someone who's never met me.
Looks nice... but until the game is finished and they add some addiction factors to it, I probably won't try it.
