Big list of freeware MSDOS games, which work perfectly under DOSBox. Feel free to add something (in comments) to the list!

One Must Fall 2097

Classic one-on-one beat'em up from Epic MegaGames! Choose your giant robot and fight with others on different arenas, some containing dangerous hazards. Excellent soundtrack!

Download

Adventures of Robbo

Puzzle game which became a beloved cult classic in Poland among users of 8-bit computers. As a little robot collect all the bolts on the level and make to the exit. Try to not die from many hazards or monsters and think hard while solving sokoban-esque puzzles.

Download

SkyRoads

Unforgettable arcade platform-driving game. Drive through roads in pseudo-3d and try to not fall! Classic!

Download

Alien Carnage

Great platformer from Apogee! As a Halloween Harry fight zombies using flamethrower, rocket launcher and save mankind, of course. For fans of Duke Nukem 1-2 or other classic DOS platfomers.

Download

Bio Menace

Tough platformer! Save mankind in the war against army of mutants and deadly robots! Despite EGA graphics, Bio Menace is one of my favourite DOS games.

Download

Major Stryker

Scrolling shoot'em up in vein of Xenon!

Download

Stargunner

Last DOS game from Apogee, and what a game! Scrolling shoot'em up with arcade-fast action, blasting soundtrack and challenging, too! Forget about Gradius clones - Stargunner will make you trigger-happy.

Cybersphere

Great Arkanoid clone, lots of powerups! Also, check the sequel, Cybersphere Plus.

Download

Electro Man / Electro Body

As a robot you travel through maze and fight baddies, while upgrading your weapons. Not as easy as it looks!

Download

God of Thunder

Fun, Zelda-esque puzzle/action game.

Download

Heroes

Twisted variant of classic Snake, but even for four players and with many powerups and various game modes! Hit among party games!

Download

Kiloblaster

Super Galaxian clone from Epic!

Download

Overkill

Another great shoot'em up from Epic!

Download

Thor's Hammer

First-person perspective hack'n slasher :]

Download

Traffic Department 2192

Very unique shoot'em up. Fight back city's streets from crime syndicate. Different objectives, free-roaming levels and *adult* talks in cutscenes - don't forget to pick it up!

Download

Time Slaughter

Ridiculously violent fighting game! Atmosphere of Blood meets Street Fighter's gameplay! 10 twisted characters (from Vlad the Impaler to prostitute and French artist, who paints with blood!), crazy-filled arenas (asylum, village of african cannibal tribe, streets of ghetto etc.), incredible movements and finishers! Try to unlock the hidden arena and 4 additional fighters! (Warning: gross and violent game, no joke!)

Download

It Came From The Desert!

Classic action-adventure-strategy game from Cinemaware! Fight the giant ants attacking a little city in the mountains.

Download

Sango Fighter

Chinese-themed unique fighting game.

Download

Vigilance on Talos V

Interesting Metroid clone. Great music and speech samples!

Download

Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport

Bizzare fighting game from Apogee. Fight in alien worlds and win the galactic tournament!

Download

Boppin'

Weird and challenging puzzle game. Looks very cute, but it can be shocking!
Windows port exists: Download

Download

The Elder Scrolls: Arena

First game of acclaimed Elder Scrolls series! Massive classical RPG for experienced players!

Download

The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall

Legendary and infamous sequel of the former, a truly great, but flawed game. After all those years fans patched Daggerfall, so it's not longer a "Buggerfall" and can show it's true glory. (link to patched version, pre-DOSBoxed version with Windows installer - no additional hassle needed!)

Triplane Turmoil

Simple-looking, but dynamic WWI shoot'em up. Fight in the air England, Finland, Germany or Japan!

Download

Jetpack

Classic puzzle platformer. 100 challenging levels!

Download

Supaplex

Cult Boulder Dash clone - hunt bugs inside computer!

Download

Xargon

Jump n run in strange world! Great platformer from Epic!

Download

Tapan Kaikki

Kill everyone in this violent top-down shooter!

Download

The Last Eichhof

Great shoot'em up in space with lot of enemies and... alcohol! Check it, really fun stuff!

Download

Operation Carnage

Excellent shoot'em up, inspired by classic arcade hits Smash TV and Total Carnage (and probably The Chaos Engine). Arena shooter where you travel through death-filled rooms, fight with endless waves of monsters, tanks and helis, with enormous bosses at the end of the maze. 2 player co-op!

Download

Feel free to tell about games which I missed and hope you will have a blast playing those
gems!

I haven't tested how well it works on dosbox, but Triplane Turmoil is an MSDOS game that has become freeware. I used to play it a lot and it was fun. It's about triplanes, flying around and bombing stuff. 2D, sidescrolling.

Daggerfall is also MSDOS thing and freeware. Again, dunno how well it works under dosbox as I haven't tested.

EDIT: My bad, this is for DOS games >_>

At this point it is quite hard to find a DOS game that doesn't work under DOSBox ;)
As for freeware games, this is a tricky topic. In many cases it is very hard to figure out if a game is freeware or not. Many people think that Betrayal at Krondor and Zork games are freeware only because they were freely downloadable for some time. I am afraid, Arena and Daggerfall may end up in the same category. In some cases the license itself may be questionable -- Scott Adams released his old adventure games into public domain but reading the history of his company I am not completely sure if he actually owned the rights at that point.
BaK and Caesar were freeware for limited time, and for promotional purpose only, so I guess this chapter of those games is closed.

The Hitchhiker's Guide... on the other was a bit tricky issue, but now the game is only available as a Z-code and needs an interpreter, so I guess that's ok.

I don't think the same issue will be with Elder Scrolls 1-2 - those have aged quite a bit and only hardcore fans are interested in those, and it seems like Bethesda Game Studios are qoing to stay in the market for a while, so enjoy Arena and Daggerfall and don't think too much about the future :) (wonder if they will go further and release Battlespire and Redguard - the latter with it's Voodoo-only support is quite tricky to run).

@Adzeth, thanks for the tip about Triplane Turmoil, will add it later together with more games.

Rise of the Dragon and Blue Force are two good and certified abandonware DOS adventures.
Adept software released Jetpack for free some time back. Definitely worth playing if you're into old school platformers. http://www.adeptsoftware.com/jetpack/
Thanks for all the suggestions!

OP is updated (finally ;)) with some additions. Check'em!

I agree, but in the case of Arena and Daggerfall, it looks as if Bethesda themselves are still distributing the games for free, at least this Elder Scrolls website looks official and has Bethesda copyright and contact information on it:

http://www.elderscrolls.com/arena/
http://www.elderscrolls.com/daggerfall/

These versions might lack the intro though and need some tweaking to get to work perfectly in DOSBox. And Bethesda doesn't allow distribution of the manuals (no idea where's the sense in offering these games for free if noone can enjoy them the way they are - especially when they could make some bucks by allowing GOG to sell working versions with manuals).

The tweaking was done and bundled with enhancement packs and updates and fan patches and a tweaked out Dosbox JUST like how GOG does it. The links are below.

I can Guarantee you these work on 32 and 64bit windows 7.... ive also gotten them to load in win2000 and an xp sp3 system.

I know, but thanks all the same. :)

I'm just saying the versions that are 100% official aren't set up like this and whether distribution of the versions you linked to is legit - that might be a gray zone again. (And they still don't come with manuals.)

Posting here so I don't forget to check this out. Thanks, guys.
The packs use the release beth provides free. And they give credit provide links and direct users to the official terms of use. i highly doubt UESP.net would move into a grey area.
TK (Tapan Kaikki = I'll Kill Everyone) is a freeware game (series) and there are some DOS versions. You can get them (and the newer non-DOS ones) from here.
