Those mods were pretty much the reason I bought the game from here in the first place. Nice to see them get some coverage here.

I enjoyed the game when it first came out. It's been fun playing through it again with these awesome graphics additions and mod/add-ons.

You've missed a lot. High polygon models, advanced lightning effects and cross-platform to boot. Even without bigger mods it really spices up the original game.

I only played the fsport mod up until now. I just tried the JAD mod because of this article, I never would have guessed! Very funny!

I secretly wonder if the awesome FS2 mods are part of the reason why the space sim genre has dried up in recent years. These mods are just far too good to be believed!
The Babylon Project is a particular favorite of mine. I've wanted to fly a Starfury ever since I saw the battles in the TV show during the Earth Alliance Civil War. Thank you, modding communities!

I hate flight sims, but I love modders, and I am extremely pleased with this project.

they should put up the javainstaller of the project in the extra's.
or work it into the installer :p you can't play freespace 2 without imo, you miss all the nice stuff. :x

Well, so...buy it :-). At least some older but still good one. Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Saitek Cyborg. Thy aren't so expensive.

I play with a mouse and the keyboard. Freespace 2 controls are exceptionally well written.

I tried. No shops in tokyo have PC joysticks.

I tried that too... and a gamepad. I just couldn't enjoy either method.
Guess i'll have to wait until i go back to the UK and i can dig out my old Top Gun joystick...

I use mouse + keyboard too. Remember that you can use the numpad to turn REALLY fast if you're in an intense dogfight.
I also have a Nostromo n52 that I dig out from time to time that works well here too.

i'm fixin to pick this HOTAS just for this game (well and Independence War 2).
