Yeah, pretty much every station you go to will have some guy saying something to the effect of "We don't own this station but we have an understanding with the people who do" and "You must be new here"

Lockmat: They don't own this license, but they have an understanding with the people who do. You're new here, aren't you?
Sorry, I couldn't resist :)
Sielle: I'd do a bit more research before you start to throw stones, if I were you. MS purchased "FASA Interactive" back in 1999 which included the license to the following games as well as the rights to release video games based on FASA's IP; Sorry, I couldn't resist :)
(note: some games were released after 1999, but as the studio was owned by MS at the time MS owned the rights to those games as well)
MechCommander
MechCommander 2
MechWarrior 4 Vengeance
MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries
Mechassault
Mechassault 2 - Lone Wolf
Crimson Skies - High Road to Revenge
Shadowrun (PC/Xbox 360)
In 2007
Microsoft licensed (note: licensed, not sold) the rights to produce video games based on FASA IP back to Smith & Tinker.
So to sum up, yes MS did and still does own the rights to Mechwarrior, and it was MS legal that was the hold up on the mektek release of MechWarrior 4.

I considered petitioning Freelancer on GoG about a year ago. And then I found that the physical, jewel-case release could be found most anywhere for around $10USD. Adjust for postage and handling.

mikaelolsson: Freelancer has to be one of the best games i have ever played, i had such an insane amount of fun in it, and besides all the fun it was allso a beautiful game.
Is there any chance at all of ever seeing this gem here on gog?, or is there anything hindering it from ever beeing here?

On a more serious note, i actually chose to post in here as well as making a "Wish" for it in the wish list since i wanted to see what others felt about this game as well.

Freelancer is the sequel to Starlancer, Freelancer is set 800 years after the events of Starlancer. As a fan of Freelancer, I am ashamed to say that I haven't play the first game but would very much like to.

GameRager: Everyone here should try finding and playing a little game called Starlancer......Same basic storyline and everything. One might even think they were the same game in some ways.

mikaelolsson: WooooooooooooW.... there's a wish list on gog?, cool. (yes i HATE when people answer to a post of mine like this, it is a bloody useless answer, so it would be better not to answer at all then).
On a more serious note, i actually chose to post in here as well as making a "Wish" for it in the wish list since i wanted to see what others felt about this game as well.
Sielle: If you hate it when people post a link to the wanted list, why not make a more substantial post than just saying "This game is awesome, why hasn't gog gotten it here yet?" (Yes I summarized but that's about all you said in the original post. Add more substance as if you're actually talking about the game and not just asking for it to appear here and you're a lot less likely to get a response that includes the wishlist link. On a more serious note, i actually chose to post in here as well as making a "Wish" for it in the wish list since i wanted to see what others felt about this game as well.
Never the less, the reason i wrote here was actually in the belief that gog did read these forums.
I appologise for any of these missconceptions and have now written my question to the team directly instead.
I believed the post to be pretty straightforward but I will allso make sure to "Fluff" any future posts with as much text as i just can in order for it to be impossible to missunderstand my question/s.
;P
P.s. i actually did not even ask why the game wasn't here yet...

Freelancer is in the top 5 of my favorite games ever, and I've played a lot. If any one reads this thread and have never played it, you should give it a try. What makes it stand out over other space games, I think, is the ease in which you can control your ship. Of course, the world is great, and I found the story to be awesome as well. There are numerous ships to buy and equipment to equip it with. Sometimes its fun just to wonder off the beaten track, find jump holes, salvage unique weapons, blow bandits up etc. If you have a craving for space dog fighting, but, don't wish to have to read and memorize a multitude of key board commands just to move anywhere, buy freelancer, and then be sure to tell GOG to try to add it to their catalouge too. :)
