a mate just tried and got the message
"already has more than max user connections" - if i remember rightly that just means its clogged up with a surge of people trying to grab a code, try again in a few hours and it should be okay

Does this version of the game require Steam? I have no idea whether this is a "Steam everywhere" game or not.

GG has a download too, yet it is Steamworks. I doubt there is a Steam free version.

Yeah, just managed to grab it and to my disappointment the installer file is just the type of thing you'd find on the disc of a Steamworks game.

This is a highly immersive, excellent single player FPS. I am very glad that THQ was brave enough to sign such an unknown developer for a SP only FPS and gave them enough money and room to fully develop it into a great game. And I am very glad that thanks to the Humble Bundle over half a million new player will have the chance to experience this great game.

If you get a game for free and still don't respect the developer and publisher enough to get past your own sensibilities you won't get my sympathies.

So I guess it is a Steam key then?

I would much rather grab the game free of Steam, however, I have been unable to find the game for a reasonable price as a physical copy.

Bought this game for $50 on launch day and have still never played it. Now it's free.
