Miaghstir: Unlike multiple superfluous game wishing threads, such an update would actually contribute to the forum.
Hey I agree with you... I just know how people on here tend to react.

Cambrey: the character limit is quite low
If they haven't changed it (and they haven't lowered it at least), it's 10.000 characters, including whitespace and BBcode.
K, I'm looking into it. For starters, I'll handle it in a .txt-file. Then we'll see if I exceed any post limits
this thread needs more Seven Kingdoms. Like, I know GOG sells them, but the engine is open source and the first one had it's properties released to the fans, so it's one time I wouldn't buy from gog, as the guys there are constantly developing it.

carnival73: The Spirit Engine 2 has gone freeware. Developer is requesting donation if you can afford one.

Plays very much like an original RPG that I could've seen them selling for the Playstation One or 2.
Whoa, thanks for this - I've had this on my to-buy list for a while. Can't believe they went freeware with it :o
Great topic!
Realm of the Mad God is a co-op shooter MMO with pixel graphics. Fun!

Aatami: I highly recommend Battle for Wesnoth if you like Tactical RPGs.
Yeah, definitely. Although I'd call it turn-based strategy, not RPG - very very very little customization.
The final version of Streets of Rage Remake has been released.

Petrell: Well, considering you get 1 rep per day you post something, his low rep indicates he doesn't frequent the forums much if at all, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Lhademmor: In that case, maybe somebody should pick up the torch and start a new thread? I'm considering doing it, but was afraid that I would duplicate the efforts of some other people that I hadn't noticed.

Any updates on this? I think there's very good reason for re-starting this thread, so that someone still active on these forums can maintain it and readers don't need to scan all 14+ plus pages for links. Clear categorization would be a big plus, too. And if the new thread thanks doomer for his initiative and explains why someone else has taken over, I think there should be no objections.

I still have the .txt.-file on my computer with all games up to page 5 added. I'll admit I haven't worked on it in some time, but thanks for reminding me - I'll try to continue.
My biggest annoyance is trying to categorize the games like doomer did - it's kinda difficult to do when you haven't played the games. Especially if there's no screenshots to judge from. Regardless, I'll continue. Hopefully, people could suggest changes in the new thread.

Good to hear! :)

Yeah, you could ask the GOG community to help you with sorting the games, once you've started the new thread, encourage other members to suggest changes when they think a game they know is in the wrong category. And you could introduce new rules, like everyone who posts a link to a game should provide some more information (e.g. what category it fits in, if it's a stand-alone executable, requiring a client or account or is played in the browser etc.).

If you go for it, please separate MMO's to their own gategory. You are probably also better of not listing any so called casual games (unless there is specific reason to list particular game)as internet is pretty much full of them.
I agree with Petrell. Also, I don't know if you intended to do it or not (I've seen this before and many times), avoid flash games otherwise you'll be listing the whole internet. Most of them entertain you for a few minutes anyway.
Because someone created a topic about Terraria, I remembered the Clonk series.
games 1-6 are now freeware and can be found here (6) and here (1-5).
I know the graphics are very basic, but since this is GOG I'm sure someone will be able to look past that.
