The dark mod.

Out of Order.
Terrordome is what happens when a guy with a fetish for horror films programs his own game based on the old Mortal Kombat games. Ever wanted to have Jason fight Ash? Leatherface and Chucky? Freddy and Hellraiser? Ghostface and Jigsaw? YOU FUCKING BET! DOWNLOAD IT NOWWWWW!!!!!!1!
I downloaded some great free indie games this week:
- - a sweet but short puzzle platformer (though "sweet" does not quite befit the game). Beat it in ~30 minutes, but there's a follow-up game to it, named [url=http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/puzzle/sutef/4195/]suteF.
- Super Crate Box - a platformer-shooter hybrid that is oddly addictive.
PortableApps just recently updated their list of games that are now in their format for pendrives. Notable ones are Battle for Wesnoth and Monster 2. :)
The Spirit Engine 2 has gone freeware. Developer is requesting donation if you can afford one.

Plays very much like an original RPG that I could've seen them selling for the Playstation One or 2.

Is OP still updating the first post? According to the "Updates" section he hasn't updated since 2009?

Well, considering you get 1 rep per day you post something, his low rep indicates he doesn't frequent the forums much if at all, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I think you just answered your own question

In that case, maybe somebody should pick up the torch and start a new thread? I'm considering doing it, but was afraid that I would duplicate the efforts of some other people that I hadn't noticed.

All that will cause is people to throw a bitch fit & point you toward this thread &/or tell you to use the search feature.

If you decide to do it, keep in mind that the character limit is quite low, so just make sure you reserve the 2 or 3 first posts to provide enough room for your list.

Not if the reason for the new thread is explained in a short sentence.
Eg. "Since the author of the original thread <link> hasn't updated it in 18 months, I thought it best to create a new one to keep the information updated" or something like that. Unlike multiple superfluous game wishing threads, such an update would actually contribute to the forum.
